Due to its protected status reef life is very healthy and active here. marco p. (#1764087) Sand Key Lighthouse (★4.1) Sand Key is a Sanctuary Preservation area that was originally its own island. Due to erosion and hurricanes, it’s been reduced to a very small patch of sand surrounded by a coral reef. The sand is an especially nice feature you don’t usually have at other Florida coral reefs. Great dive and snorkel spot. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Rock Key (★4.1) The crevices within the reef at Rock Key are deeper and wider than what is usually found at other coral reefs. These wider openings create the perfect hiding habitat for grouper, moray eel, and other Florida fish. Aqualung C-59 Wreck (★4.5) This wreck sits in 70ft/18m of water. It is suitable for Open Water or Advanced Open Water divers. American military boat that was given to the Mexican government in order to create an artificial reef. Mares Coffins Patch (★4.2) Coffins Patch Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA) is located approximately four miles off Key Colony Beach and offers some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Middle Keys. Maximum depth is about 25-30 feet/ 7 -9m. Dive with Purpose Cozumel, 77675 Cozumel San Clemente (★4.5) San Clemente is a shallow barrier reef located 500 m (0.3 mi) from the shore at the Sunscape/Secrets resort. The dive site is only 30-40 ft deep in at spans a llenght of over 900 m (0.6 mi). With mild currents, this is a perfect dive site for the last dive of the day or a night dive. Travis M. (#4179003) SS Benwood (Wreck) (★4.4) The Benwood is a 360ft World War II wreck that sank April 9, 1942. She was carrying a cargo of phosphate rock and running blacked out to avoid German U-boats that were rumored to be in the area. The ship Robert C. Tuttle was also running blacked out and the two ships collided. BLUE DREAMS DIVING, 23000 BAYAHIBE Tortuga (★4.3) Located approximately 25 minutes by boat from the town of Bayahibe. This destination is known for its impressive corals and more abundant marine life, since it receives fewer divers. Mares, Janez Kranjc South Point shallow (★4.1) The dive site is on the south east of the Catalina Islands. It’s generally a shallow dive site except at the end it’s possible to dive down to around 25 meters but it’s generally nicer to stay shallow. Mares, Janez Kranjc La Paz (★4.5) Diving in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez, just outside of La Paz, Mexico is like swimming in an aquarium. Be ready for spectacular backdrops including swim-throughs, caves, caverns, deep pinnacles, and shallow, colorful reefs. A.C.Divers, 77720 Playa del Carmen Pargo Cave (★4.5) A perfect coral reef for beginners, students of underwater photography and great place for the second shallower dive after a deep one. It has a sculpture, the “Virgen del Carmen“ of a conch shell, more than 2m high underwater to take a keepsake photo of the memory of diving in Playa Del Carmen. Mares, Janez Kranjc The Nursery - Florida (★4.3) The Nursery gets its name from the group of resident nurse sharks that live here. It is an easy boat dive and can turn into a drift dive at times due to the current. DIVE BVI, VG 1150 Spanish Town RMS Rhone (Wreck) (★4.6) If you only have time for one dive trip in the BVI, it's the RMS Rhone. Numerous artifacts that were deposited on October 29, 1867 are still visible today. You can also see where the 1977 classic movie "The Deep" was filmed and swim through the bow section. Mares Coral Beach (★4.6) Another great dive site in the Varadero region of Cuba, just east of Havana. Lots of healthy coral growth. No current and easily accessable from shore this is a great dive for beginners and snorkelers. DIVEMEX, 77710 Playa del Carmen Jardines (★4.4) A great site for beginning divers and snorkelers as this reef is shallow, clear, and has little to no current. One of the most beautiful dives in Playa del Carmen, Jardines reef offers many small caves and shelters for schools of fish to hide. Lots of reef life here to see. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Stella Maris / Ocean Encounters (★4.2) This is a great house reef dive located from the shores of the Lions Dive and Beach Resort. Shore accessible, this site is perfect for newer divers and snorkelers and sits right inside the Curacao National Marine Park. Dive 90, GL51 9TA Cheltenham Maria La Gorda (★4.1) A beautiful site full of abundant marine life and extraordinarily beautiful corals. Diving here ranges from vertical walls to coral canyons, tunnels, and caves, and even the remains of Spanish galleons. Mares Boca Sami (★3.4) Nice and easy shore dive in St. Michiels Bay with large sponges in the deeper parts of the reef around 30 m / 100 ft. The large buoy in the bay is attached to a massive anchor chain which is a perfect reference point for your way back. Scubaçao, Willemstad Jan Thiel baai (★4.0) This bay is located at a busy beach so feel free to bring the family! Entering the water is easy and under water you will find a wreck and a platform, lots of sandy bottom up to a depth of 15m. Scubaçao, Willemstad Playa Lagun (★4.5) Located on the northwest end of Curacao, Playa Lagun is a narrow cove surrounded by rocky cliffs and is an excellent shore dive site. It is known as one of the best snorkel spots on the island with a variety of Marine life. For divers it offers multiple routes on the outer reef and inner reef. Scubaçao, Willemstad Playa Grandi / Playa Piscado (★4.4) Playa Piskado, also called Playa Grandi, is a crowd puller. Turtles can be found on the top of the reef and near the small pier, where they get the leftovers of the fishermen to eat. The beautiful reef is further out and at 8 meters depth you can find a statue of the sea god Neptune. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Caye Caulker Marine Reserve (★4.2) This site is a marine protected area just off Caye Caulker with beautiful, healthy reef with copious amounts of live corals and juvenile fishes. Mares Chankanaab (★4.4) Chankanaab is a marine park accessible from shore at the Chankanaab Beach Adventure Park where you can lounge on the beach, swim with dolphins, have lunch at the restaurant, hike around the Mayan ruins, or snorkel and dive the Chankanaab reef right from shore. Force-E, 33404 Riviera Beach Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park (★4.3) One of the most popular dive sites in South Florida, Blue Heron Bridge is an easily accessible shore dive sitting just under the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach. SPECIAL NOTE: check the tide schedule as this dive can only be made during slack tide otherwise currents will be too strong through the bay. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Molokini Crater (★4.5) Sitting just off the Hawaiian island of Maui, Molokini Crater is probably one of the most famous places to dive in all of Hawaii. This former crater is accessible by boat dive departing from Maui. This is a very busy dive site but there are several different areas to dive. Aqualung Mala Wharf (★4.7) Mala Wharf is one of Maui’s best dives and easy to get to! It’s a shore dive just off of Lahaina. Watch out for boat traffic and rough sea conditions. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Porto Mari (★4.3) A beautiful house reef great for snorkelers to advanced divers. This site is technically a double reef with the first reef starting close to the beach and the second reef running out into the deep with a valley of sand running in between them. Easily accessible from shore. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Yellow Submarine (★4.3) Enter next to the pier at Yellow Submarine and head straight out to the reef. Top of reef is around 6 meters, bottom is around 30 meters. Watch out for boat traffic. Melissa H. (#2528645) Devil’s Grotto North (★4.5) Located off George Town, Devils Grotto is a popular dive site among beginners as well as intermediate snorkelers. Devil’s Grotto features massive hulking coral heads with open chimneys and swim-throughs filled with tarpon, parrotfish, barracuda and schools of silversides. Access Scuba, 84770 St. George Santa Rosa Wall (★4.5) The Santa Rosa Wall is one of the most famous wall dives in the world. This dive is for advanced divers as the wall drops away to hundreds of feet deep. it is easy to get pretty deep pretty fast so watch your gauges. This dive is also a drift dive but there are also lots of fun swim-throughs to explore as well. Aqualung Yucab Reef (★4.5) Being a shallower reef, Yucab is a very popular second dive for many of the Cozumel dive charters. The reef is very colorful and healthy with lots of hard coral species and huge barrel sponges. There is usually a strong current here so this is always done as a drift dive. INFINI PLONGEE, 97113 GOURBEYRE Anse à La Barque (★4.2) Anse à La Barque is home to species not common elsewhere. It is a large and long stone that stretches for one hundred meters of the coast towards the west, starting at 4 meters from the shore down to 23m. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Snake Bay (★4.2) This site is an easy entrance on the right-hand side of the pier, directly under the car park. Sandy bottom with the coral reef starting at 5 m /15 ft and the drop off at 10 m / 30 ft. At 35 m /115 ft the reef turns into a sandy bottom again. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Double Reef (★4.4) The first reef slopes down to about 14m / 46ft where it becomes a sandy bottom. From there you can see the second reef. The second reef starts around 18m / 60ft and drops down to 30 m/ 100ft and deeper. Mares, Janez Kranjc Catalina Island - Dominican Republic (★4.4) The island is a natural park with limited access; there is only one small beach where visitors are allowed to go to shore and is mostly not worth it as it is so crowded. The wall dive here of the island is spectacular and there is great shallow reefs for both diving and snorkeling. Brian N. (#4811987) 18th Palm (★4.2) Unlike a lot of the shore dive locations on the island on Bonaire which have hard limestone entry points, 18 Palm is an easy sandy beach access point and two freshwater showers to rinse your gear at the end of your dive. Mares Cliff (28) (★4.3) Cliff is considered one of the best dive spots on Bonaire for macro photography. Another easy entry shore dive this site does not disappoint as it has a wall running along the left side of the dive site that drops to over 22 meters. Mares, Janez Kranjc Sampler (Z) (★4.2) Sampler is the northernmost dive site on Klein Bonaire and a much visited site. Flirt with the friendly angelfish living here and enjoy the reef. SSI Service Center Southern Caribbean, Willemstad Playa Forti (★4.4) Playa Forti is famous for the nice view. A staircase leads to the beach and there is a normal shore entrance. The reef a little further out has beautiful corals and rock formations. You can also find many sea creatures along the cliff and discover a lot. Aqualung Captain Don’s Habitat (★4.4) Captain Don’s Habitat is one of the most famous dive resorts in Bonaire. The house reef that sits right off from the resort is a very popular and easily accessible dive site with a healthy reef system and tons of marine life. A great site to have a night dive. Scuba School Bonaire, 0000CN Kralendijk Bonaire Red Beryl (★4.5) This site is located on the reef around the salt pans. It is a relatively shallow spot, which also makes it very suitable for snorkeling. Please note that there may be waves on windy days. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Country Garden (14) (★4.4) With the limestone formations, Country Garden is highly recommended. A variety of fish swim around and between here. Please note, it is a real boat diving site that you cannot visit from the shore. Mares Munk’s Haven (★4.3) The most westerly dive site on Klein Bonaire. Due to the gently sloping bottom, this site is also very suitable for snorkelers and beginning divers. Only from 12 meters the reef slopes steeper. Mares Jibacoa Beach (★4.5) The proximity of the reef from the beach makes this a great dive and great snorkeling right from the shore! Jibacoa is one of Cuba’s cheapest destinations for diving and you’ll see plenty of healthy coral growth on this patch reef system. Aqualung Lands End - Cabo San Lucas (★4.3) Lands End is the last dive site in a long line of popular sites along the coast of Cabo San Lucas and offers spectacular views both above and below the water of the amazing rock formations in this area. Although this site is just offshore it’s only accessible by boat for diving. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Islas Marietas (★4.2) The Marietas Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage site and for good reason; the biodiversity found here is incredible and the sheer number of marine animals unmatched. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Pelican Rock (★4.2) Pelican Rock is one of the most popular sites to dive and snorkel in the Cabo San Lucas area. Located just offshore from Playa del Amor it’s easily accessible right from the harbor making charter boats easy to find and not too expensive. Dive with Purpose Cozumel, 77675 Cozumel Punta Dalila (★4.5) This is one of the more popular shallow diving sites in Cozumel and is a popular second dive among dive charters. With the reef sitting in about 40-60 feet of water this is a great site for snorkeling and beginning divers. This is a great spot to see nurse sharks and turtles. Scubapro Over Heat (★4.4) A beautiful relaxing dive site, named after the patch of reef over which an old resort dive boat would overheat each day. Over Heat is one of the most favorite dive sites on Roatan. Scubapro Shark Reef - Grenada (★4.7) 3 mile long strip of shallow reef, 30 ft / 10 mtr to 17 mtr / 50 ft, which is home to many small nurse sharks. Being the Atlantic this can have 4 kt currents on it although we do try to avoid diving there at those times. ←123...7→
