Grand Cayman’s North Wall is the most prestigious diving area on the island, known for outstanding wall dives—with some stretches down to 1800 meters/5906 feet! Scuba diving at the North Wall is classified as diving anywhere between West Bay and extending east to Rum Point, where there are a number of world-class dive sites to enjoy.
Home to Stingray City, admire the enormous southern rays in shallow water or witness hammerheads by plunging deeper into North Wall diving. There are a number of dive centers and dive resorts that offer scuba diving at the North Wall, while if you plan to visit the more remote sites, liveaboards are often favored.
Whether you are an experienced diver who wants to revel in strong currents and rough water or a novice who prefers a shallow site - North Wall diving has something to offer you. At Blue Buttress, the wall experiences strong currents where divers will find themselves drifting effortlessly while at Ghost Mountain and Princess Penny’s Pinnacle, explore towering seamounts. Black Rock Canyon provides swim-throughs galore while Bear’s Paw is a shallow mini wall, perfect for searching for nurse sharks and participating in dive courses.
Common sightings while North Wall diving includes tarpon, sea turtles, great barracuda, mackerel and moray eel. Most of the island's eagle ray sightings happen while North Wall diving, where the majestic creatures can be seen gliding in small groups along the edge of the deep wall. Nurse sharks are often seen sheltering under coral while hammerhead sharks roam the North Sound searching for their next meal. Home to the famous site, Stingray City, divers can witness large southern stingray in shallow waters surrounding idyllic sandbars.

Scuba diving at the North Wall is best during the summer months - especially during May, June, and July - when the winds are calm and the seas are flat. Just remember, when you visit Grand Cayman, due to the size of the island, if you can not dive the North Wall there will probably always be another wall to dive!
