Explore the Pacific Region
If divers are looking for a region to dive in where they will be able to see a wide range of marine life including some of the most spectacular species which live in the ocean, then the Pacific Region of Colombia is definitely the place to go. There are two main islands which are the highlight dive spots are Gorgona Island and Malpelo. Both are islands which lie off the west, Pacific coast of Colombia. The waters around both islands are truly thriving with marine life, with Gorgona harbouring vibrantly colourful reefs and a large array of marine species of all shapes and sizes and Malpelo harbours some of the largest schools of Sharks in the world, made up of hundreds of individuals. These dive sites, due to them being islands, are both only reached by boats, either day trip boats or liveaboards and are only accessible to certified divers. It is possible to dive at both year round, with water temperatures ranging between 15 and 29 degrees Celsius and visibility being above average ranging between 10 and 30 metres. This visibility allows divers to see the spectacles these waters have to offer with some of the species including Hammerhead Sharks, Silky Sharks, Whalesharks, Eagle Rays and chances to see Whales and more species of Sharks.
