This site is a 45-minute boat ride with a spectacular reef featuring gullies and canyons among the coral. This site is also interesting for snorkelers as the reef formations in the first 10m are out of this world. Divers drop down to 25m and follow the wall for plenty of pelagics. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Marlon’s Crack (★4.4) Discovered by the well known Melbourne based freediver Marlon Quinn from Watermaarq, Marlon’s Crack is abundant with hard corals and reef fish. Crevices and caves run deep into the wall providing spectacular swim-throughs for freedivers, snorkelers, and divers. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Munda (★4.5) Munda is a confined water training site on Hopei Island. The site is only 10 minutes from the dive shop and is a gentle sandy slope, reaching a maximum depth of 5m. DIVE MUNDA, Munda The Pond (★3.5) Another reef dive close to Barry’s Breakfast, the Pond is a sloping reef and home to a huge diversity of marine life. Only 15 minutes from the dive shop, this is an excellent site. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Shark Point Solomon Islands (★4.6) Shark Point is a 20-minute boat ride and is one of Dive Munda’s signature sites. Situated at the end of a reef protruding a mile out into the Solomon Sea, it drops off more than 600m and can be dived at any depth from 10m to 60m. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Bell P39 Airacobra (Wreck) (★3.8) This Bell P39Q Airacobra fighter plane was discovered in April 2011. Little is known about this mostly-intact wreck, but we believe it is one of two aircraft lost by the USAAF 68th Fighter Squadron during a raid on the Shortland Islands on 6 September, 1943. She lies in about 27m of water on a sandy bottom. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Douglas SBD Dauntless (Wreck) (★4.1) This Douglas SBD-4 Dauntless dive bomber was hit by AA fire during a raid on Munda, on July 23 1943. Pilot Jim Dougherty put his plane down in Rendova Harbour, where she still rests at 13m. The site is located approximately 25 mins by boat. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Cave of the Kastom Shark (★4.8) The Cave of the Kastom Shark is a 40-minute boat ride from Munda. You will take a very short walk onto the island through the mangroves where you will find a small pool 2 meters wide where you will enter the dive. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Patu Gogo (★3.9) Patu Gogo is a protected sloping reef that descends to 25m. This site is full of coral gullies, canyons, and pinnacles, making it an ideal site for less experienced divers who want to see all the beauty of a pristine, healthy reef. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Susu Hite (★3.5) Susu Hite is a picture-perfect little tropical island with a gentle, sloping reef. Our favorite night dive spot and home to an abundance of critters, Susu Hite is an easy dive located just 15 minutes from Dive Munda. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Barry’s Breakfast (★4.0) A fifteen minute boat ride from the dive shop, Barry’s Breakfast is a relaxed dive starting at 25m following along a wall where pelagic action can be seen out in the blue. We work our way to Susu Hite island, along a shallower reef fringing the island. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Lighthouse Point (★4.2) Lighthouse Point is a wall dive which is lined with cuts, cracks and crevices, giving it a very unique underwater topography. Looking up to see the sun rays filtering through the cracks above is quite a unique and phenomenal experience. Located near the town of Noro, this site is 35 minutes from the shop. DIVE MUNDA, Munda F4F Wildcat and Alice in Wonderland (Wreck) (★4.2) This Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat fighter plane rests in 14m on a spectacular coral reef named Alice in Wonderland. The plane lies upside down and bears the marks of shrapnel and AA gunfire prior to being shot down. We explore the wreck for 10-15 minutes then slowly work our way along the gently sloping reef. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Kashi Maru (Wreck) (★4.3) This Japanese freighter was caught by USAF bombers on 2 July 1943 while unloading a cargo of trucks and fuel to nearby troops based on New Georgia Island. She lies at 17m in Bairoko Harbour, a 45 minutes boat ride from Munda. Her artifact-fille hold is easily accessible to all levels of divers. DIVE MUNDA, Munda Haipe Reef (★4.0) Haipe Reef is a Dive Munda signature site, situated off the remote west coast of Renodova Island, approximately 30 minutes from the dive shop. Haipe is a sloping reef dive with huge, pristine hard and soft corals all along the wall. 12...5→
