Explore Tahaa

Tahaa, sometimes spelt Taha’a, is one of the Leeward Islands, found within the Society Islands of French Polynesia. Tahaa is often grouped with nearby Raiatea, which is enclosed by the same coral reef. The 90sq kilometre, flower shaped island has a population of around 5,000 and is known for its exports of pearls and vanilla which has earned Tahaa a reputation as a particularly aromatic island!

Diving on Tahaa is popular, ringed as it is by a lush coral reef. There are a number of luxury dive resorts and minimal dive centres, though one can be found in the small town of Ruutia. It is a popular location for beginner dive courses as the water is so calm, warm and clear. Liveaboards are a popular way to dive multiple French Polynesian islands and several boats pass by Tahaa from Tahiti.

Highlights of diving on Tahaa include French Polynesia’s only real wreck, The Nordby, popular drift sites like Ceran Pass and the abundance of marine life which includes sharks, turtles and manta rays.
