Niagara II (Wreck)

The Niagara II was built in 1930 as a 182-foot steel freighter and later in life, converted to a sand sucker. She was purchased in 1998 and purposefully sunk by the Tobermory Maritime Association the following year after having been thoroughly cleaned in preparation of sinking as a dive site.

You’ll encounter the typical Lake Huron fish species like sturgeon, bass, trout, perch, pike, and walleye.

Thermocline dive. She sits upright in 120’ of water. There is normally very good visibility at this site, in the range of 30-70’, with bottom temperatures in the low to mid 40’s.

Excellent training area for Open Water, Advanced, and Master Diver candidates. Quarry has many scuba platforms with guide lines. Max depth of 35’/10m.

This is an excellent dive site for beginners as well as for advanced training. Explore boats, cars, barges, and other assorted items, sunk & ready to be discovered! This site is apparently private land, although we have not been able to locate any owner. It has been closed for special events like FloatFest.

Oakville (Wreck) (★3.3)

This is a buoyed wreck which is a Work Barge. The flat hard deck is in 60 feet/ 18 mtrs of water. This site has easy navigation in all visibility. The muddy bottom sits at about 72 feet /22 mtrs) Beware of cold water temperatures. Even in the heat of the summer, 41 F / 5 Celsius is the norm.

A deep and cold water dive located on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River. The sits at 80 ft facing north. The pilothouse and engine room are interesting attractions.

Cedar Hill Park in Wiarton, Ontario, Canada, is located in a sub-bay of Georgian Bay and known as Colpoy’s Bay on Lake Huron. It is an easily accessible shore dive and great for all levels of divers.

Tobermory offers some of the most unique freshwater wreck diving Canada has to offer just outside of the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron. This area is full of plentiful wrecks, good visibility, and “refreshing” water temperatures.

The Alice G was a wooden tug that ran aground during a severe storm in November 1927. The wreck is easily accessible for scuba divers, snorkelers, and freedivers.

W.L. Wetmore (Wreck) (★4.2)

A favorite wreck dive among Great Lakes divers. This wreck sank on November 29, 1901 on its way from Parry Sound to Tonawanda while tugging behind it the Brunette and the King. It now lays off the shores of Tobermory near its sister ship, the King. An excellent dive for all levels of divers.

The Howard is a beautiful shipwreck located on Victoria Island. The wreckage has tons of history for a curious diver. The wreck is located between 70ft and 90ft and currently has a heritage marker buoy atop it.

Looking for some neat artifacts? Than Silver Islet is for you! This unique dive site has an abundance of history where divers can find old artifacts dating to the early 1800’s. The clear waters of Lake Superior provide excellent visibility making the location easily navigable .

Located in the famous Thunder Bay of Lake Superior, Silver Harbour is a popular dive and recreational site. This is a conservation area that provides year round access to the lake. The diving is nice with great rock features.
