Greenlings are coastal marine fish found in the North Pacific, especially along rocky reefs and kelp forests. Known for their elongated bodies and often vivid patterns, species like the kelp greenling show strong color differences between males and females.

These fish live close to the seafloor, feeding on small invertebrates such as crustaceans and mollusks. Well adapted to complex reef habitats, greenlings play an important role in coastal ecosystems and are commonly seen in cold, nutrient-rich waters.
