Assistant Instructor

The SSI Divemaster program enables candidates to acquire the knowledge and training necessary to supervise certified divers and serve as anCertified Assistant in all entry-level recreational diving programs and all Specialties for which they hold a diver certification. The SSI Dive Guide certification allows holders to accompany certified divers on non-commercial recreational dives. Course dates will be set at a later time based on the candidates. Registration is open until October 25, 2026

Active Assistant Instructors may teach, supervise, and issue recognition or certification cards for the following programs after completing the “Assistant Instructor” portion of the Instructor Training Course:Try Scuba Scuba Skills UpdateThey will receive the following Specialty Instructor certifications:Perfect BuoyancyThey can also complete free online upgrades for the following Specialty Instructor certifications:Computer DivingMarine EcologySSI ExplorersAssistant Instructors may also:Assist an active Open Water Instructor with all Open Water Diver classroom sessions.Have students practice skills during pool/confined-water sessions for skills already taught in the Open Water Instructor course.Supervise no more than two (2) students during the exploration portion of any Natural Environment training dive, once Natural Environment Training Dive 2 has been completed.Qualify to become a Specialty Instructor for certain SSI specialty programs.Take the Instructor Training Course.Registration deadline: 11/15/26 (Training dates will be announced at a later time)
