The SSI Deep Diving Specialty teaches you everything you need to dive to depths between 18 and 40 meters through a mix of theory and open water diving. You'll learn how to plan and make your deep diving adventures safe and use computers and gas consumption calculations to get the most out of your deep dives. Upon completion, you will earn your SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification and be able to explore beautiful deep dive sites wherever you want. This SSI specialty is also a requirement for other advanced courses making it the next logical step to get your Deep Diver certification.

The SSI Decompression Specialty teaches you how to dive beyond the no-decompression limits. You’ll learn to plan and execute dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters with limited decompression using your recreational diving equipment and a single decompression cylinder. You’ll learn and practice how to effectively use your dive computer’s features, such as gas switching, gas integration, time-to-reserve, and time-to-surface. Using these computer functions will become second nature, allowing you to dive safely with limited decompression without spending hours on dive planning. Upon completion, you’ll earn the SSI Decompression Diving Specialty certification and be able to explore beautiful deep dive sites or larger wrecks without being limited by traditional no-decompression limits. In this specialty program you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to safely and confidently navigate underwater. You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimate distance, how to depart from and return to a designated point including basic navigation patterns. All this enhances your underwater observation skills, improves your dive safety and helps you get the most out of every dive. The Assistant Instructor certification is the next step after becoming a Divemaster and a new step on your path to becoming a dive instructor. This allows you to gain valuable teaching experience. You’ll practice briefings, teach theory, and conduct in-water lessons. If you want to continue your career as a diving professional, you can complete the Instructor Training Course, pass an Instructor Evaluation, and become an Open Water Diving Instructor.
