Equipment
Interns are strongly encouraged to own their own equipment, as is standard for dive professionals. Ocean Tribe offers two discounted gear packages:
- Gold Package – $1,239 (RRP $2,100): Cressi Aquawing Plus BCD, Cressi MC9 SC regulator set, Shearwater Tern TX or Peregrine TX dive computer
- Silver Package – $949 (RRP $1,299): Cressi Start Pro BCD, Cressi MC9 regulator set, Cressi Donatello dive computer
- Required Personal Items – $300 (RRP $385): wetsuit, fins, mask, snorkel, knife, SMB marker buoy
Rental equipment is available for the full internship duration at an additional cost of $700. This is available as a backup option but ownership of personal gear is strongly recommended.
Instructor to Intern Ratio
Individual mentoring from SSI-qualified Divemaster and Instructor-level staff. Interns work alongside instructors during live training sessions and guided dives throughout the entire program.
Pricing
From $6,399 for the complete beginner package (includes all courses, digital learning materials, and your own set of dive equipment). Pricing varies depending on entry certification level. Please enquire for pricing at your specific entry level.
Not Included
- Accommodation (assistance finding affordable local options near the dive centre is provided on request)
- Flights and travel insurance
- Equipment packages (priced separately — see above)
- Personal expenses and meals
Scheduling
Internships run on a rolling intake basis throughout the year. Start dates are flexible and arranged directly with Ocean Tribe prior to booking. Training follows the dive centre's operational schedule, typically Monday to Saturday.
Payment Terms:
- A deposit is required to secure your place on the course
- Full payment must be completed before the course start date unless otherwise agreed
- Payments can be made via online booking, bank transfer, or in person at Ocean Tribe
Cancellation & Rescheduling:
- Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future course date with sufficient notice
- Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be requested in advance
- Cancellations made within a short notice period may incur additional charges
Refund Policy:
- No refunds will be issued once the course has started
- Unused portions of the course are non-refundable
- In exceptional circumstances, partial credit may be offered at Ocean Tribe’s discretion
Weather & Operational Conditions:
- Dive schedules are subject to sea, weather, and safety conditions
- Alternative training activities may be arranged if diving is not possible
- No refunds will be given for weather-related changes, but efforts will be made to complete all required training
Additional Notes:
- Candidates must maintain a high standard of professionalism and conduct throughout the course
- Failure to meet performance requirements may result in additional training time or costs
- Certification is not guaranteed and is dependent on meeting SSI performance standards
