Instructor Training Course

To join this part of the SSI Instructor Training Course (ITC), you must be certified as an Assistant Instructor or equivalent qualification. This comprehensive course is part of SSI's three-step approach to instructor training. It begins with the Instructor Training Course, supplemented by digital training. After completing and meeting all the requirements of the 40-hour Assistant Instructor course (beginning June 1 if necessary), and successfully completing the second 40-hour ITC, you will then complete the 4-part Instructor Evaluation (IE) to become an SSI Open Water Instructor. As a certified instructor, you will be able to independently teach key SSI courses such as Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress & Rescue and Dive Guide. Need more time or want to gain hands-on experience before becoming a full instructor? You can take the Assistant Instructor course as a separate stage. This will allow you to assist on real student courses, gain valuable teaching experience, and then complete the Instructor Evaluation at your own pace.
