East Coast Divers Hosts Virtual Fireside Chat on Staying Active and Diving as We AgeOctober 20 conversation brings together diving, medical and safety experts while supporting East Coast Divers and Operation PhoenixBROOKLINE, Mass., September 21, 2026 — East Coast Divers is inviting divers, snorkelers and anyone interested in staying active as they age to an interactive virtual event, “Thriving As You Age: In Diving and In Life,” on October 20 at 8 p.m. Eastern.The conversation will explore how people can continue enjoying the activities they love while recognizing that their health, fitness and needs may change over time. Topics may include longevity, fitness for diving, changing health risks, immersion pulmonary edema and practical considerations for remaining active in and around the water.Three speakers will bring perspectives from the diving, medical and safety communities:• Dan Orr, former President and CEO of Divers Alert Network (DAN).• Dr. Charlotte Yeh, former Chief Medical Officer of AARP.• Jasmine Gale, MD, a board certified emergency medicine physician and divemaster who holds diplomas in Mountain Medicine and Diving & Marine Medicine and is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.Attendance is limited to 50 participants to make room for questions and discussion. The format gives attendees an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers about issues that matter to them.Tickets are $50 per person. As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, plus shorten your surface intervals - so you can spend more time diving and less time waiting! In this program, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge whilst learning how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen. Upon completion, you will earn an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification.
