In this specialty program, you will develop the advanced skills and knowledge you need to navigate safely and confidently underwater. You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimate distance, leave and return to a designated point, and basic navigation patterns. You will also learn how to combine navigation techniques to enhance your diving experience. All of this sharpens your underwater observation skills, improves your dive safety, and helps you get the most out of every dive. After an introductory session, you’ll deepen your experience and have the opportunity, if you wish, to share your first dive with family or friends. With the SSI Basic Diver program, you’ll learn the skills and knowledge needed to dive to a depth of 12 meters with an SSI Professional. The entire Basic Diver program can be credited toward the Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver programs within 6 months, so you can move on to the next stage of your diving adventure.
