The SSI Freediver course is the introduction to freediving. The theory training and exam are conducted using the digital course materials.
During the practical training, the theoretical content is illustrated once again with real-world examples.
In practice, the first day focuses primarily on breathing and relaxation techniques on land, as well as pool training. First, you’ll use dive tables to learn how to hold your breath longer and trigger the diving reflex. The goal isn’t to break records, but to slowly expand your comfort zone. Anyone who has covered at least 30 meters on the first day has already met the requirements for the SSI Pool Freediver certification.
On the second day, participants head to the warm-water diving pool at Monte Mare in Rheinbach. The program focuses primarily on descent techniques, streamlining, pressure equalization, as well as the buddy system, rescue, and self-rescue. These are fundamentals that are also essential for advanced training and deeper dives. A depth of at least 10 meters must be reached during this phase. Those who meet the requirements will receive the “SSI Freediver” digital certification and can participate in diving trips and rent diving equipment anywhere in the world.
