Advanced Open Water Diver
SSI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course is an advanced training program following the SSI Open Water Diver certification, designed to further develop your diving skills through so-called adventure dives. This course offers an exciting and challenging experience for divers who already have basic diving experience.
Both newly certified divers who have just completed the SSI Open Water Diver course and more experienced divers can participate. Under the supervision of one of our professional SSI instructors, you will be guided through various training areas. If you are already certified as an SSI Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two additional adventure dives to earn the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
Learning Content
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of five adventure dives, usually completed over two days.
Underwater navigation and deep diving are mandatory components of the training, while the remaining three dives are elective.
Examples of adventure dives include:
Wreck diving
Drift diving
Night diving
Perfect buoyancy control
Depending on your interests, you may also choose specialties such as fish identification, digital underwater photography, or other available adventure dives. Our instructors are happy to advise you based on your preferences.
During the deep diving adventure dive, you will learn how to plan and conduct dives safely while considering physiological effects and challenges at depths of up to 30 meters.
The underwater navigation dive teaches you how to “read” the underwater environment, allowing you to orient yourself confidently using natural references as well as a compass.
