You must pass the theory exam before the OWD open-water dives. Don’t worry—if you listen carefully during the pool training and read the course materials thoroughly, the exam won’t be a major hurdle. If you still have questions, your dive instructor will be there to offer advice and support.PRACTICE:The practical training is divided into two areas:Pool: During pool training, you’ll learn all the basic practical skills you need for your future as a diver. Pool training is divided into several modules.The pool dives are usually spread over 2 days; a weekend is often the best option for this. The total dive time during pool training is at least 3.5 hours. Approximately 3–4 additional hours per day are required for theory lessons, equipment training, and pre- and post-dive briefings.This means you’ll spend at least 6–8 hours per pool training day with us at Divers – Indoor.Open Water: We conduct 4 open-water dives. Even though it might sound a little strange, we’re allowed to conduct Open Water Dives 1 and 2 here at Divers – Indoor under optimal conditions. If you’d prefer to do Open Water Dives 1 and 2 at a lake or in the ocean, please let your future dive instructor know so they can plan it with you.Minimum dive time per dive: 30 minutes (taking into account your well-being and the water and ambient temperatures) Open Water Dives 3 and 4 are conducted in a lake or the ocean.
