Every diver wants to be a “good diver” – Good buoyancy control is the first step in this direction. Proper buoyancy control can only be mastered with proper training. The Perfect Buoyancy program will improve your swimming position and reduce your effort which will lead to less air consumption. In addition, proper buoyancy control is the best skill for environmental protection. The SSI Perfect Buoyancy program provides you with the in-depth knowledge, skills and experience needed to most effectively use your Total Diving System. Our goal is to prepare you for your journey by improving your buoyancy control and comfort in the water, and to ensure you have an enjoyable diving experience.

To become a safe and confident diver, it is critical to develop an understanding of underwater navigation. You will learn how to navigate with a compass, and how to apply natural navigation skills, estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to marking points, and be able to get back to the exit point. The SSI Navigation Specialty Program will teach you to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills. You will also learn to estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to different marking points, and be able to get back to the exit point at any time.

Many of the more exciting and intriguing dive sites are located in deeper water. Without proper training this kind of diving can put you at risk. To plan your dives properly you must first know how to prevent any of the potential risks involved in deep diving. This course will provide you with the information to make deep dives comfortably and confidently. Our goal is to prepare you for your journey. Taking SSI’s Deep Diving program provides in-depth information on the necessary equipment, skills, knowledge and experience required to safely conduct recreational deep dives.

Your dive adventure doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down, or if your only option for a dive site is a lake or quarry where visibility is limited by the clarity of the water. Night diving allows you to see things you won’t see during the day. Most marine species hide during the bright daylight hours, only emerging once night has fallen to hunt. Many corals also feed at night, turning the dark waters into a nocturnal garden filled with color. It is an unbelievable feeling to discover the mysteries held underwater when the sun goes down. With the right equipment and a powerful torch there is a lot to discover. Night diving is a whole new way to experience the underwater world.

The goal of any recreational SCUBA diver should be to attain the Rescue Diver certification. An emergency situation can happen at any moment. Are you prepared for an emergency?

The Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty course is an essential certification for all serious divers. It will allow you to extend the time you can spend at depth and reduce your surface interval time. It’s perfect for people who want to get the most out of a dive vacation trip where the itinerary includes several dives a day to a bunch of dives in a week or for people looking to dive that dream destination on a liveaboard.

Your education does not have to end with your entry-level certification. The training provided in the SSI Science of Diving program increases your understanding of these topics, and provides you with additional information about decompression theory, and the components of your Total Diving System and its accessories. Good divers are always learning. Our goal is to improve your knowledge of the aquatic environment and the sport of recreational scuba diving, and to ensure that you enjoy every aspect of your diving experience.

Wrecks are hidden treasure troves lying beneath the waves. Countless man-made vessels have sunk, either intentionally or accidentally, providing unique opportunities to dive among the remains of human history. These wrecks provide us with endless opportunities for exploration, but they may have hidden hazards. To safely dive on a wreck, a diver must be aware of these hazards, and have additional knowledge and experience to correctly evaluate them. Taking the SSI Wreck Diving program provides you with in-depth information on the necessary skills, equipment, knowledge and experience required to safely conduct non-penetration wreck dives. If you are interested in wreck penetration, this program is a prerequisite for the SSI Extended Range Advanced Wreck Diving program.

The Instructor Evaluation (IE) is the final step of SSI’s 2-Step Instructor Training Approach Divemasters or equivalent-level professionals will have to successfully complete the Instructor Training Course (ITC) first where you’ll learn how to: • Conduct academic sessions • Lead confined water training • Teach Open Water Diver and various Specialty programs like Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress&Rescue, Perfect Buoyancy and more • Develop student management and communication skills Already an experienced instructor with another agency? You may be eligible for shortened oboarding options where you will only have to complete certain parts of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) followed by passing an Instructor Evaluation (IE).
