The SSI Open Water Diver is the globally recognized certification that allows you to dive independently with a buddy to a depth of 18 meters. The course combines in-depth knowledge with practical experience.The three pillars of training:Theory: Flexible learning via app or web (digital learning) to understand the physical and medical basics of diving.Pool Training (Confined Water): First breaths underwater in a controlled environment to master basic skills and equipment handling.Open water dives: Four dives in the lake or sea where you apply what you have learned and explore the real underwater world.Prerequisites:Minimum age: 10 years (Junior OWD) or 15 years.Health: Good physical condition (medical certificate recommended).Skills: Swimming skills are required.Your certification: Upon successful completion, you will receive your digital SSI certification, which is valid for life and opens doors to dive centers around the world.

The Hunsfels offers impressive depths of up to 54 meters, making it a hotspot for challenging dives. The absolute highlight, however, is the visibility: Thanks to the nutrient-poor water, you can often enjoy perfect visibility of 10 to 20 meters, almost reminiscent of alpine mountain lakes. You glide through crystal-clear blue and have the massive steep walls and the underwater world in razor-sharp focus at all times.

Every second Sunday of the month, we get together for a group dive day. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver, at ESS the focus is on having fun, diving together, and connecting with like-minded people.The dive site will be announced in advance and is subject to weather, visibility, and current on-site conditions. Guests are welcome—advance registration is required.

In this refresher course, you’ll review and practice the diving skills from your Open Water Diver program under the guidance of an SSI Professional. However, a Scuba Skills Update isn’t just a relaxed way to refresh your diving skills—it’s often a prerequisite for resuming your diving training after a break. If you don’t want to worry about your skills during your diving vacation and would rather enjoy the underwater world, take the course shortly before your trip. The course is also ideal for Open Water Diver students to solidify their diving skills before their open-water dives. Extend Your Diving SeasonWith a dry suit, you’re not limited by water temperature and can dive comfortably all year round.
