SSI 32% Nitrox Training

Learn how to safely use a Nitrox blend with up to 32% oxygen and take full advantage of the benefits of enriched air during your dives.

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32 course teaches you how Nitrox works, how to plan your dives, and how to properly manage the risks associated with oxygen exposure. It is particularly beneficial for divers who make repetitive dives, especially during trips and dive vacations.

Training Content

The training includes, among other things:

• The Fundamentals of Nitrox and Enriched Air.
• The composition of Nitrox mixtures and how they differ from air.
• The essential concepts of pressure, depth, and gas behavior.
• Calculating and Using Air-Equivalent Depth.
• Oxygen exposure limits and the management of oxygen toxicity risk.
• Planning a Nitrox Dive.
• Using tables and/or a dive computer with an enriched air mix.
• Precautions related to the use of a gas containing higher levels of oxygen.
• The procedure for checking the breathing mixture before a dive.
• Safety rules and best practices for diving with Nitrox.

The course is designed to help divers understand why and how to use Nitrox correctly, not just to learn a procedure.

Prerequisites

• Minimum age: 10 years old.
• Hold an SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent issued by a recognized diving agency at the time of certification.
• Divers enrolled in the Open Water course may, subject to SSI conditions, combine this specialty with their initial training.

Certification Level

Upon completion of the training and after passing the final exam, you will receive the following certification:

SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32

This certification authorizes you to use breathing mixtures containing up to 32% oxygen (EAN32), within the limits of your training and your other diving certifications.

Important: Before each Nitrox dive, the oxygen percentage of the mixture must be verified by a diving professional in accordance with SSI requirements.
