Recreational Sidemount Diving

Recreational Sidemount Diving

SSI Specialty Course: Recreational Sidemount Diving It’s a common sight and topic in specialty magazines, and on many a boat in vacation destinations, you’ve likely seen a diver jump into the water without a tank on their back. What has long been practiced in wreck and cave diving is now being discovered by more and more recreational divers. Simple, comfortable, and weightless diving without feeling the weight of the scuba gear on your back—who wouldn’t want to experience that at least once? Specialized training is required to conduct this type of dive safely. Unfortunately, these very dives are often carried out without the necessary preparation and knowledge, which frequently leads to safety risks. Therefore, it’s essential to have the proper knowledge to conduct recreational sidemount dives safely. In the theory sessions, you’ll learn everything about the background, history, advantages, and equipment of sidemount diving. During the practical sessions, you’ll learn how to configure your equipment and handle it in the water. You’ll quickly realize that the comfortable buoyancy and easier movement provide you with a whole new diving experience. Course Content: History and Background Benefits for recreational divers Equipment and configuration Practical handling Buoyancy control Planning a sidemount dive At SSI Specialties, the focus is always on having fun and learning new skills. Practical diving experience comes first. There are only brief theoretical lessons. This way, you can immediately enjoy the fun in the water to the fullest, and with just a little practice, you’ll be able to confidently plan and execute your recreational sidemount dives. Nothing stands in the way of unlimited diving enjoyment.
