Svobodné Heřmanice is a shale quarry near Krnov, 500 m long, about 30-70 m wide, about 36 m deep. It is a trough sloping down to the middle of the quarry. The normal entrance to the water is on the north side with an iron footbridge. From here, at a depth of about 17 m, the Permon submersible cabin is anchored by chains - a large caisson, in which historical experiments with long-term stay of man under water were conducted. Further on there are trees, a metal tub, a car skeleton and a pump. Behind the rocky embankment there is a 1x1 m well, where then behind it towards the south is the deepest place - 36 m.
