Diving Trip to Indonesia, South Sulawesi, Selayar Island, December 2026

Sulawesi is one of the Greater Sunda Islands and covers slightly more than half the area of Germany. The Indonesian island is located between Kalimantan to the west and the Moluccas to the east. Selayar Island is an archipelago and part of South Sulawesi Province. It lies in the Flores Sea, separated from Sulawesi by the Selayar Strait. The entire eastern side of the island, where the resort is located, is surrounded by a fringing reef. Through persistent efforts, this area—one of the world’s last remaining paradises where humans have left hardly any traces—has been successfully designated a nature reserve. In collaboration with the Indonesian government, a marine park was established, making diving here a truly unique experience. The fringing reef consists mainly of steep walls and is dotted with overhangs and small caves, and an underwater mountain lies a short distance from the resort. Even before the marine park was established, Selayar’s unique abundance of fish was something special; since the reefs were placed under protection in 2000, word has clearly spread among the marine life. Breathtaking coral growth—soft corals on the steep walls and hard corals on the reef top—is impressive for every diver. The Selayar Dive Resort, with its private beach, was designed, planned, and built entirely in-house. Our top priority was to incorporate the uniqueness of nature into the design and to nestle the resort within the idyllic setting of the 1-kilometer-long white-sand beach where the Selayar Dive Resort is located. The goal was to preserve nature and benefit from its existing beauty—and that is exactly what we have achieved. No noisy roads running past the resort—just harmony and balance with nature. Come join us for a relaxing getaway!

SSI Dry Suit Diving (Trockentauchen)

SSI Dry Suit Diving (Trockentauchen)

Anyone who owns a “drysuit” and has mastered the technique will have great diving opportunities in the fall, winter, and spring, because visibility during the cold season or in cold waters is usually much better than in the summer. So you can dive undisturbed through clear water in your “drysuit.”In the SSI DRY SUIT DIVING program, you’ll learn about the benefits of a dry suit and gain expertise on various suit types, valves, choosing a base layer, and dry suit accessories.During the dives, you’ll learn the techniques and proper use of the dry suit, as well as hands-on maintenance and care practices. As a drysuit diver, you can dive warm and comfortable in cold waters all year round. Only dry suit diving opens up the unique underwater landscapes of cold water to you, such as dives among the icebergs in the remote Arctic or fascinating places that, despite the cold, are teeming with life.Dry suits are also great when diving multiple times a day. Instead of struggling to get out of a cold, wet wetsuit every time, dry suit divers can simply leave their suits on.The best way to learn dry suit diving is through the SSI Dry Suit Diver Specialty Program. Here, you’ll gain the necessary knowledge and learn all the skills you need to dive safely and comfortably in a dry suit . This includes handling the specialized equipment as well as how to deal with challenging situations and problems with the dry suit.
