Cornetfish

The image shown is a representative illustration and does not depict every individual animal in this category.

Total number of species approx.: 3

The cornetfish, also called flutemouth, consists of four species of distinctly long and slender fish from the genus Fistularia. These unique fish are identifiable by their flattened stature from top to bottom and extremely elongated bodies. Some cornetfish can grow as long as many eels but are distinguishable by their long tubular snout. You can go diving with cornetfish along the tropical and temperate coastlines of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans.

Cornetfish like to dwell near soft substrate bottoms like sand flats and sea grass. You can also find them swimming on the coral reef, hunting for smaller fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates to eat. To see where you can go diving with cornetfish, explore the dive site map below.
