Advanced Open Water Diver
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) course from SSI (Scuba Schools International) is the next level of scuba diving beyond the Open Water Diver course. It is designed to help divers develop their skills, build confidence, and broaden their diving experiences in a variety of ways.The key points of the course are as follows:1. Main ObjectivesDevelop Skills and Safety: Practice buoyancy control techniques, underwater navigation, and handling various situations.Extend diving limits: Allow diving to a maximum depth of 30 meters (for individuals aged 15 and older; for youth aged 10–14, depth limits will be based on age criteria)2. Course StructureSSI’s AOWD course emphasizes experience-based learning and is divided into two main parts:Theory (Digital Learning): Study through the SSI app or website, which offers flexible, self-paced learning.Practical Dives (Open Water Dives): A total of 5 practical dives (Specialty Dives) must be completed, including the following required courses: 1. Deep Diving: A required course to learn how to handle pressure conditions and faster air consumption as you descend deeper. 2. Navigation (Underwater Navigation): A required course to practice using a compass and observing the underwater environment to stay on course. There are also 3 elective dives: You may choose topics of interest based on the suitability of the location and the instructor, such as: Night & Limited Visibility Diving (Night Diving)Wreck Diving (Wreck Diving) Peak Perfect Buoyancy (Advanced Buoyancy Control – Highly Recommended) Enriched Air Nitrox (Nitrox Diving) Waves, Tides & Currents (Diving in Currents and Waves)3.
