Benidorm is found on the south coast of Spain, in the Valencian Community. It is famous as a sun-drenched holiday destination for Europeans, particularly Brits. Though well known for the resort culture, the diving here is far from famous - which is no bad thing!
A number of dive centres are found around the town, most of which provide the full range of dive courses, from introductory up to specialty courses and divemaster programmes. Some of the resorts do double-service as dive resorts. There are a number of liveaboards operating in the nearby Balearics, but none directly out of Benidorm.
Benidorm diving is ideal for beginners and seasoned pros alike. The waters are crystal clear, nutritious - which
leads to a wealth of fauna - and usually very calm with little currents . It is surrounded by excellent dive sites, including Benidorm Island (which features the famous pinnacle La Llosa), Mitjana Island and the Serra Gelada Natural Park. Wildlife highlights include the famous Spanish octopus and big schools of barracuda.
Diving in Benidorm is possible year round due to the warm Mediterranean climate. The water temperature peaks in July and August at around 26°C. May to August have long, hot days and are the busiest time of year. Booking in advance may be a good idea so you won’t be disappointed. The visibility is at its best at this time due to the low summer rainfall.
As the weather starts to cool down in September and October, the crowds disperse. The diving gets a little chillier in winter, as water temperatures plunge to 15°C, and some dive shops may close seasonally, but the atmosphere is a lot more chilled out. There is more rain at this time, though it remains mostly dry throughout winter.
Located near Benidorm Island, this submerged pinnacle rises to 7 m and drops dramatically to 33 m. Scuba divers can spot moray eels, octopus, bream, and colorful nudibranchs. Due to occasional currents, this is best for advanced divers.

This steep wall dive descends from 4 m to 20 m and is teeming with marine life. Expect sightings of moray eels, groupers, nudibranchs, and eagle rays on the sandy bottom. Adventure level is moderate, suitable for most divers.
