Explore Marche
Bordered by the Adriatic Sea, the Marche region is one of Italy’s more remote areas. Scuba diving in Marche takes place along the Conero Coast and as divers sink beyond the surface of the Adriatic Sea, the remains of vessels and limestone seascapes emerge from the depths. Just outside of the Marche region, there is a unique opportunity to dive a drilling platform that has since become a thriving artificial reef.
The macro-enthusiasts among us will delight in capturing vibrant nudibranch and decorator crabs on camera while the many cracks and crevasses in the limestone rocks are the perfect refuge for octopus, conger eels, and lobsters. Black scorpionfish hide inside the metal bodies of wrecks as large schools of seabass and amberjack patrol the sites diligently searching for their next meal.
Marche diving takes place from the coastal town of Numana as well as other dive centres that extend along the coastline. Further inland, the medieval town of Jesi is home to a dive centre holding courses in freediving and scuba diving while dive courses are also offered in dive centres closer to the coast.
