Like most dive sites at Tubbataha, wall drift diving is the name of the game. Elias P. (#2102022) Coco Grove House Reef (★4.6) A shallow slope makes this the perfect site for beginners. Just in front of Coco Grove resort, you will find a beautiful and colorful variety of coral and small fish. This site is easy to dive and not a lot of current. SSI Service Center Philippines, 6015 Lapu-Lapu City Canyons (★4.3) A favorite dive site that is composed of three canyons running side by side. A must-dive in the area, it is for experienced divers looking for a taste of fast and furious. Aqualung Kan Oran Reef (★4.5) Slightly north of the Marine Sanctuary is a gentle wall dive that ‘Kan-Uran Point’ affords divers. Kan-uran means ’from the person,’ in the local Visayan dialect. Newbie fun divers can experience getting inside overhangs & ledges to explore an abundant gentle explosion of colorful soft & hard coral gardens. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Bahura (★4.3) Bahura Kanto, one of the popular advanced sites in Anilao, is a must-go. It features a sloping reef with a tip/corner where current is usually strong. One must be familiar with managing currents and drift diving. On the other side of the corner, there is a small hole in the wall at 15m. Mares, Janez Kranjc Hadsan (★4.3) The Hadsan is a very easy site to dive, where the dive is mainly done along a nice wall covered with different sponges and corals. it’s an easy dive along a wall covered with vibrant colors of soft corals, as well as many different species of colorful hard corals. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Cogon (★4.5) Cogon means grass in the Filipino language. ‘Cogon Point’ was named after the grass used for roofing native houses that can be seen directly onshore, northeast of Apo Island. FANTASTIC DIVE, 6015 Lapu-lapu City Kontiki House Reef (★4.6) Kontiki House Reef Point is located 30 seconds away from Mactan Fantastic Dive Point and is a point where you can safely receive training in scuba diving, technical diving, and freediving. The distance to the wall is clear so it is very easy to get in and out. . The kitchen rope creates a safety border, making the Peter S. (#417559) Monad Shoal (★4.3) Monad Shoal is considered the best dive site in the world to see the rare and timid Thresher Sharks. These sharks normally live in the deep but regularly come here early in the morning for the cleaning station. Mares, Janez Kranjc Panagsama Beach/Sardine Run (★4.4) Panagsama Beach is a world-famous dive site because of the sardine ball that can be found just a few meters below the surface within snorkeling distance from the beach. This is an amazing experience for all levels of divers. SSI Service Center Philippines, 6015 Lapu-Lapu City Drop Off (★4.8) Pinnacles reach the surface on the East side of Verde Island and drop away to great depths. A vertical reef with some nice gorgonian fans, sea snakes and frogfish and some large pelagic schools Scubapro, Stephen Frink Sabang Point (★4.4) A beautiful dive site just outside of Sabang. Currents are present depending on the tides. Visibility is always good. You can also see sharks here. Mares Mainit (★4.3) For experienced adventurers, the current-swept reefs of this site form a triangle abundant in large fish, sea fans, and corals. Its unique geography makes it accessible all year round but can be challenging due to the strong currents, down currents, upwellings, and depth. Mares, Janez Kranjc Los Bamboos (★4.3) 3-5m flat top reef and sandy patches with a sloping reef down to 16-17m a perfect dive site for courses either for open water, advanced open water or higher. DiveGurus Diving Services Corp., 5608 Manoc Manoc Angol Point (★4.6) This is an excellent dive site for beginners and training dives. The reef is covered with stony corals, leather corals, anemones, sea stars and sea cucumbers. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Gato Island (★4.5) Gato Island is a well preserved marine reserve and sea snake sanctuary. This is one of the five famous dive sites on the Island. The site is a tunnel where you take a tour underneath the island. This site is best for more experienced divers/ Peter S. (#417559) Kimud Shoal (★4.8) After the tresher sharks disappeared from Monad Shoal for unknown reasons and moved to the Kimud Shoal, this is now one of the best dive sites in the world to see the rare and elusive tresher sharks. These sharks normally live in the deep but regularly come here for the cleaning stations at shallower depths. Hans E. (#3545391) Rock Point West (★4.4) Located on the southwest corner of Apo Island, Rock Point West is adjacent to it’s sibling Rock Point East. A steep slope leads you to a plateau towards the southern tip where the current gets stronger most of the time. DiveGurus Diving Services Corp., 5608 Malay Fridays Rock (★4.4) A dive at Fridays covers two divespots: Fridays Rock which is up to 18 meters deep and Fridays Reef which reaches 12 meters of depth. Its a very well visited divesite. Scubapro Batok (★4.5) Behind Sombrero Island, Batok features a sloping reef and a wall that starts at 12 metres, both decorated with lush corals and diverse marine life. E&Z Diving Center, 6015 Lapu-lapu City Cordova reef (★4.2) Cordova Reef is a 15mins boat travel from EZDC Housereef. A slope terrain from shallow up to 21m/67 feet, then wall. Good for beginner and Advanced level divers. Mares, Janez Kranjc Giant Clams/The hill (★4.4) The name speaks for itself. This site is covered in Giant Clams. While there is some coral in the immediate area of the clams, it becomes more sandy bottom as you move away from them. Aqualung Neptunes Land (★4.6) This dive site is a flat plateau connecting Napoleon Wall and the Coral Garden east. As the name indicates, Neptune cups to a considerable size can be found. Also turtles seem to favor this site. Hans E. (#3545391) Chapel Reef (★4.5) The Catholic Chapel at Apo Island can be seen from the dive site, hence the name. A stunning dive site that begins as a slope with scattered coral bommies leading to a steeper slope towards a wall overloaded with nook, crannies, cracks, crevices & caverns exposing overhangs graced by soft & hard corals. Mares Anchor (★4.5) On an underwater hill at a depth of 32 m, completely overgrown by corals, a huge anchor has come to rest here at least 50 years ago. During the right time of the month, currents can be quite strong. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Coral Garden West (★4.6) Easy but beautiful dive. In a lively garden of mainly hard corals with patches of sand in between all kinds of marine life can be observed at this spot. Mares Apo Island - Aladin (★4.6) Aladin is a wall dive on the northeast corner of Apo Island, Mindoro Occidental. The dive site is accessible by boat from Pandan Island Resort (www.pandan.com). Mares, Janez Kranjc Manila Channel (★4.3) Similar to the Batangas Channel but with a depth of around 26 meters. Remains of a shipwreck that caught fire and sunk hundreds of years ago can still be seen here. Also an ideal site for night diving Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Danao Wall (★4.4) Danao Wall on Panglao Island, Bohol is a top dive site with vibrant corals, sponges, and sea fans on a dramatic wall that drops beyond 60m. Most dives stay around 15–25m, where visibility is excellent and volcanic rock formations add to the beauty. A must-dive in the Philippines. Mares Tuble Sanctuary (★4.3) Tuble Point is a wall dive site featuring vertical cliffs, caves, and healthy coral reefs that drop from 3m to 40m. Highlights include sea fan forests, small caves, and the chance to see large fish like tunas and jacks. Visibility ranges from 10–22m, ideal for all levels. Aqualung Malayan (Wreck) (★4.4) A story goes around that in the 70s ‘Malayan,’ a fishing vessel got the heavy brunt of a strong typhoon & smashed onto the shallow reef top at the southwest side of Tubbatahas’s north atoll. It is now called the Malayan Wreck and has settled on the shallow reef top. Mares Wall Street (★4.4) Further down south along the wall that starts off at Malayan Wreck, ‘Wall Street’ gives credence to its name, a steep wall that plunges deep down 50 – 60 meters & a wonderful colorful coral garden on the reef top at 3 – 5 meters great both for beginning & ending dives. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Amos Rock (★4.5) This site is called Amos Rock due to a distinct rock formation on the reef top at 5 meters where schooling midnight snapper converge. Amos Rock is an alternate dive spot when Amihan winds are blowing at full force, forbidding access to eastern dive spots. Stephane C. (#3858207) Coconut Point (★4.5) A virtual washing machine experience awaits you at Coconut Point, an exciting dive site on the northern tip of Apo Island. The current can come at you literally from any side left, right, up, down & center. A sloping reef edging towards a rock wall. This site is best for experienced divers. Mares Rock Point East (★4.6) Rock Point East is a finger-shaped reef located on the southeast corner of Apo Island, primarily exposed to prevailing currents ensuring an abundance of reef fish, colorful coral formations, and occasional visits from pelagic species. DIVESTORY CORPORATION, 6015 LAPU - LAPU Pescador West / Cathedral (★4.4) Pescador Cathedral is a cave that has a vertical swim through offering views of the surface. The depth ranges from 5 to 65 meters with a visibility of 20 to 50 meters. Its chimney continues to around 16m depth. Mares, Janez Kranjc Delsan Wreck (★4.5) Delsan is considered a top 50 dive destination on the planet. The reef top starts at 5 meters and gently slopes toward the edges of a wall to 23 meters where a crevasse plunging to 40 meters becomes a refuge from the raging current. Mares, Janez Kranjc Beatrice Rock (★4.4) Situated at the back of Sombrero Island, this site is an underwater hill that has an abundance of vivid colors and schooling fish. Aside from the blue water ascent, divers may also experience the roaring current that it is known for, making this site a bit challenging. Dive Point Siquijor, 6227 Maite, San Juan Republika Coral Ridge (★4.8) Just in front of Republika Beach Bar is an area with abundance of corals which slowly goes down. Diving directions SWW you come to a ridge, with the deepest depth of 24m at the SWW end. Top of the ridge is 10m below the surface. DIVESTORY CORPORATION, 6015 LAPU - LAPU Pescador East (★4.4) Pescador Island’s east side, near Moalboal, Cebu, features a dive starting at a 5m plateau descending to 65m along a coral-covered slope. The dive concludes on a plateau rich in small marine life, also ideal for snorkeling. Aqualung Medicare (★4.5) Right in front of the Medicare facility on land. A mild current allows you to cover both dive sites. A steep rocky slope descends to 20 meters on Medicare South moving deeper to 25 – 30 meters towards Medicare North. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Max Climax (★4.3) Along Padre Burgos a few dive centers have lined up facing the east coast on the western side of Sogod Bay, Southern Leyte. ‘Max Climax’ is part of a wall more than a kilometer long that connects a few house reefs. Mares Ko-Ok (★4.4) An underrated dive site where tiger shark encounters have been recorded. Undulating sun rays filtering through the asymmetrical arrangement on the steep wall where the reef top starts at 3 meters plunging to incongruent depths lend beauty to Ko-Ok a kin to an abstract Picasso piece of art. Aqualung Black Rock (★4.6) One of the few known reef manta cleaning stations in Southeast Asia where cleaner wrasse serve to remove dead skin off the mantas’ body. This site is called Black Rock because of a rock at 8 meters where one of the buoys are set up. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Triggerfish City (★4.7) The reef top starts at 5 meters going west inwards where red tooth triggerfish converge, hence the name. Though titan triggerfish are also around to pick up a fight with the unsuspecting diver during nesting season. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Staghorn Point (★4.7) Starting at 7 meters, undulating fields of staghorn coral extending to about 500 meters creep to the edges of a wall that plunges deep at Tubbataha. Mares Southwest Wall (★4.2) A steep wall that plunges deep where mild currents give you a gentle ride to watch schooling juvenile grey reef sharks numbering anywhere between 20 to 50 swim about. Mares Turtle Rock (★4.1) Divers plunge to the deepest depth of the wall at 20 meters & follow a bearing to the sandy slope westward to check out 4 massive rock boulder outcroppings. BLUE MONSTAR, 6015 Lapu-lapu City Abaca House Reef (★4.4) Blue Monsta Houseleaf is a five-minute drive from Maktan Newtown and you can see a variety of marine life, especially turtles, trigger fish, grouper, crown fish, trumpet fish, sardines, fan coral and seahorses. HB ANDA SCUBA DIVING CENTER CORP., 6311 ANDA Virgen west (★4.7) Virgen West is located in the middle of the Virgen marine sanctuary. The top of the reef starts around 5m and the drop off go down until 30m. On the bottom its interesting sandy slop. ←123→
