O nome deve-se ao facto da rocha ser formada por pedras pretas que lembram um conjunto de pequenos cubos. Tem uma profundidade média de 14-16 metros e 22 no máximo. Normalmente faz-se mergulho à deriva, com pedras sempre à esquerda e areia branca à direita, onde se encontra um pequeno recife na parte mais profunda.
É um local com muitos corais e pequenos cardumes, sendo possível avistar Mantas na sua época. Tartarugas verdes, raias, peixes-sapo e moluscos também podem ser avistados neste local.
