This is a popular dive site for divers in both Northern California and Oregon. Charlie Drive or Early Hole is the name of this deep hole on a bend of the Smith River. This is a river dive so current is possible but during summer months is usually not too strong.
Diving a river is pretty unique as you will see chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead trout, coastal cutthroat trout, green sturgeon, white sturgeon, Pacific lamprey, brook lamprey.
