Cryptomania (★5.0)

A gentle slope starting from 3m to 18m, where the reef consists of rubble, sea grass and sand, interspersed around coral bommies and caves. Cryptomania is an amazing muck dive with many surprises, bursting with marine life and covered with an amazing variety of rare species.

Oasis (★5.0)

Oasis is a pristine coral reef on a gentle slope, home to a huge number of coral species and anemone fields making it a very diverse coral reef. The perfect shallow dive starting at 8m to no deeper than 18m. Making it great for beginners or after a deep dive.

Rose Garden (★4.5)

Given the name Rose Garden due to its beautiful topography of Foliose or Rose coral which covers the complete dive site from 15m all the way down to below 40m. Along the dive you come across steep drop-offs and mounds were swim throughs are found. Strong currents are around so for experienced divers only!

Shangani Reef (★5.0)

Starting from 1m to 18m Shangani Reef is the perfect dive site for beginners. A classic fringing reef covered in pristine coral and sand channels. It is full many species of juvenile fish and macro. Perfect for Snorkeling, free diving and scuba diving.

Monoliths (★5.0)

Rising from the depths of over 150m, impressive columns and walls create big monoliths up to 3 stories high, giving you the feeling that you a skydiving! Covered in top to bottom pristine coral with schools of fish and Palagics. From 10m down to 40+m there is something for everyone.

Lulu Deep (★5.0)

Lulu deep offers a diverse experience of steep walls, large coral cliffs and sand channels covered with coral gardens and full of shoals of fish where turtles and pelagic fish often make an appearance. Starting at 18m to below 40m it is a perfect advanced dive.

Red Buoy (★5.0)

Red Buoy is an advanced, deep, wall dive starting at 20m down to 60m. Perfect as a drift dive you start on a breath taking wall covered in coral and shoals of fish and end on a foliose covered reef spread with outcrops.

Hulls Rock (★0.0)

A steep slope from 40m to 18m proceeding upwards on a shallow gradient to 8m. Perfect for drift dives, this beautiful reef is inhabited by giant Barrel sponges and pristine coral on the upper reef.

Aqualung

Miniliths (★5.0)

Gaining the name due to being the younger brother to Monoliths... A beautiful reef full of smaller rocky outcrops or ’mini-liths’ and coral mounds covered in pristine beautiful coral communities. A very aesthetic and rich reef.

Kitutia (★5.0)

Kitutia is a coral reef that surrounds a sandbank located 2.5 hours South of Mafia. This dive is planned as a full-day excursion, combined with a BBQ picnic and, in season, whale watching.

Mange Reef (★4.5)

Mange is a reef located 2 hours South of the dive centre, dived as part of a full day expedition combined with a sandbank picnic and whale watching, in season. The maximum depth is 18 meters, with beautiful shallows perfect for accompanying non-divers.

Juani South (★4.4)

Juani reef is one of the only true fringing reef complexes found in Mafia, running the full length of Juani Island on the seaward side. Here the reef slopes down to around 26 meters and is a favorite due to its pink/purple hue as a result of the corals found there.

Tom’s Garden (★4.4)

A must do for macro enthusiasts, this site has a depth of 7 metres but can be extended if one wants to rear off the beaten track into the sand dunes. This dive site was named after one of our Instructor’s who stumbled upon this seahorse heaven by chance.

The Hill (★4.4)

Another Mafia Island Diving discovered site. The hill is a beautiful site characterized by a large hill of porites coral which develops into low laying hills of coral interspersed with seagrass and rubble.

Pyramid (★4.5)

The dive starts around some coral bommies and small rock formations and slowly ascends to a shallow bank reef after passing the distinct formation of a pyramid.

Critters Alley (★4.6)

Critters Alley can be found just off the shore, at the edge of the drop-off at 7 meters deep. A sandy bottom dive, where one explores the patches of weed, small bommies, and pipe which was layed and abandoned.

Aqualung

Nudibranch City (★4.3)

Nudibranch City is named for its inundation of several different types of nudibranchs. The reef is a 300-metre swim off Utende Beach and lies around 9 metres deep. Here there is an abundance of soft corals and fantastic anemones.

Chekechea (★4.5)

Chekechea in Swahili means ’Kindergarten.’ This site is named Chekechea because it acts as a nursery for juvenile species. It is a very shallow dive site that is excellent for nervous beginners, photographers who want strong natural light, and any diver looking for muck diving encounters with rare critters.

Kasa (★4.4)

Kasa is a shallow, extremely colorful and lively reef where one can often see mature green turtle grazing in the seagrass. This site can experience some strong currents.

Scubapro

Msumbiji (★4.5)

Msumbiji in Swahili means Mozambique; why it was named this, nobody can really say. This site consists of several rock formations decorated with corals, algae, sponges, and anemones. The slopes and sheer walls start at around 3 meters and fall to a maximum of 17.

Chole Reef South (★4.4)

The reef starts at around 5 m and descends to 17 m, ending with sand and coral rubble where it is common to see scavenging titan triggerfish. We regularly see giant reef rays just a couple of meters of the reef resting on the rubble.

Chole Reef North (★4.3)

Chole Reef is a reefbank that is found lying northeast and southwest and is around 800 metres long. The reef starts at around 5 metres and descends to 17 m and ends in sand and coral rubble.
