The Devil’s Palace
Located in the western part of Shimoji Island, it takes about 30 minutes by boat from Miyako Island to reach Devil’s Palace. You will descend from the crevasse and enter through an entrance at a depth of about 15 meters, with a maximum depth of 25 meters, through narrow, dark passageways and arches.
In addition to creatures that like to burrow in, such as pinecone saucers, red scorpionfish, dandelionfish, and striped mantis shrimp, there are also Japanese pygmy seahorses and fritillary shrimps in the vicinity. Sometimes green turtles, white tip sharks, and sea mantas also appear.
