Halibut are among the largest flatfish in the world, living on sandy and muddy ocean floors in cold marine waters. With both eyes on one side of their body, they are perfectly adapted to life lying flat and hidden against the seabed.
Masters of camouflage, halibut blend into their surroundings while waiting to ambush prey such as fish and crustaceans. Their impressive size and strength make them key predators in marine ecosystems and a remarkable species of the ocean depths.
