Beachhopper Adventure in Monterey

Discover the Magic of Monterey Bay Diving

A World-Class Cold Water Diving Adventure

The Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon is one of the most incredible underwater features on the West Coast. This massive canyon begins just offshore and plunges from approximately 60 feet (18 m) to nearly 12,000 feet (3,656 m) deep, creating a unique underwater environment unlike anywhere else.

Why Scuba Divers Can't Resist Monterey

Diving in Monterey is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. From breathtaking kelp forests to the dramatic underwater canyon, every dive offers the chance to explore a world filled with beauty, mystery, and adventure.

Located within the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, these nutrient-rich waters support an amazing variety of marine life. Divers can experience encounters with:

• Curious sea otters
• Playful sea lions • Harbor seals • Rockfish, lingcod, and other reef fish • Colorful sea stars and invertebrates • Abalone and countless other marine species

The Beauty of Cold Water Diving

Monterey is famous for its cold-water diving, offering a completely different experience from tropical destinations. The canyon's deep, nutrient-rich waters help create one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world.

Divers enjoy year-round diving conditions with water temperatures typically ranging from 48–52°F (9–11°C) at diving depths and visibility often reaching 10–30 feet or more, depending on conditions.

Whether you are exploring towering kelp forests, drifting above rocky reefs, or watching marine life thrive around you, Monterey delivers unforgettable dives every time.
