Enriched Air Nitrox (40%)
As a nitrox diver, you will lengthen your bottom times and increase your safety margin on challenging dives. In addition, you'll shorten surface breaks - so you can spend more time diving, not waiting! In this course, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge by learning about safe dive planning and performing dives with oxygen-enriched air up to 40% oxygen content. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% Specialty Certificate. Nitrox (nitrox) - an oxygen-nitrogen mixture containing more than 21% oxygen. Reducing the amount of nitrogen in the mixture improves its properties for dives up to 40m. As a breathing medium, it is safer than air provided certain rules are followed. This is mainly about diving depth and exposure time. In the case of nitrox with 40% oxygen, you can use equipment (cylinder, breathing machine) used for air diving, when the oxygen content of the mixture exceeds 40%, you must use clean and oxygen-compatible equipment (otherwise an explosion may occur). Increasing the depth below 40m is not possible due to the toxic effects of oxygen at increased partial pressure above 1.6at or 1.4at depending on the diving organization.
