All you need to get started is 40 logged/verified dives and certifications in Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility or at least 5 logged/verified dives of experience in each area plus Diver Stress & Rescue. The SSI Independent Diver specialty course is a course designed to train divers to dive independently, without compromising the safety factor. Self-sufficiency will be the key to this course. We will train you to always have a deep awareness of your personal and environmental condition. You will learn to plan your dives correctly, respect your personal limitations and prevent accidents in and out of the water. Independent Diver Training Independent Diver Training So who is this course for? In short, the SSI Independent Diver Specialty course is commonly requested by experienced underwater photographers and videographers who crave personal freedom underwater. However, if you have 75 logged dives or more and want to learn to dive independently, we invite you to enroll in the course. There are a couple of additional skills you will be interested in; the Stress and Rescue course is a must. Deep Diver course if you plan to dive between 19 and 40 meters deep. You will also need excellent navigation and buoyancy skills.

In this sidemount diving course, you will learn everything you need to dive with a one or two tank sidemount to a maximum depth of 30 meters or to your certification depth, whichever is greater. Sidemount diving is a very common practice among many wreck, mine and cave divers, but the advantages for more recreational divers are now being discovered. By not carrying a heavy tank on your back, you will feel more comfortable in the water and see your hydrodynamics and horizontal trim position improve effortlessly. By using less energy, you can reduce your air consumption, so you can make better use of your dive time. By improving buoyancy control, valve access and redundancy, sidemount diving offers you more safety and peace of mind. You will learn all the skills and knowledge you need to dive safely and comfortably with a sidemount equipment configuration of one or two tanks.

The SSI Decompression Diving Specialty will teach you to dive beyond the no-decompression limits. You will learn how to plan and conduct dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters with limited decompression using a total recreational dive system and a single decompression cylinder. In addition, you will know how to effectively use the dive computer functions, including gas switching, gas integration, time to reserve and time to surface. Eventually, you will use these dive computer functions instinctively and safely perform limited decompression dives without hours of planning. Upon completion, you'll earn SSI's Decompression Diving specialty certification and be able to explore deeper dive sites or larger wrecks without the restriction of traditional no-decompression limits, multiplying your adventure possibilities.

Description Have you always wanted to know exactly how air gets into scuba cylinders? Then this is the course for you. In two webinars, we explain the basic operation of compressors, without depending on a specific model. This includes, on the one hand, what happens in a compressor and, on the other hand, filling practice: what steps should be followed? What is the function of the filter? And what maintenance intervals should you check? The course does not include SSI material, only the SSI digital certification. There are two presentations as training material, which are also available after the course.

The Maya believed that cenotes were portals to the underworld. These mystical sites are ancient limestone sinkholes with crystal clear waters that are perfect for a unique freshwater diving experience. There are more than 6,000 cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula. More advanced cave divers can explore the hundreds of kilometers of subway rivers in the area. The two most important departure ports for diving trips are Cancun and Playa del Carmen. You can also decide to explore only the sinkhole area of the cenote, which requires you to have an Open Water certification. Be aware that some of the cenotes may require divers to walk long distances through the jungle, which is an adventure in itself. Diving in Mexico's cenotes is definitely an awesome experience.

If you dive in a body of water from 300 to 3000 meters (1000 to 10000 feet) above sea level, this is called altitude diving. Most algorithms are designed to plan dives down to 300 meters (1000 feet). During your Altitude Diving program, you will find everything you need to plan dives at higher altitudes safely. The SSI Advanced Wreck Diving program provides divers with the necessary training to independently plan and conduct limited penetration, no-decompression dives within the sunlight area, to a maximum depth of 30 meters or a linear distance of 40 meters, and using procedures and equipment for overhead environments, with a buddy of equal or greater qualification.To advance from the SSI Wreck Diving certification to the SSI Advanced Wreck Diving certification, the student must:Complete at least one (1) shore session as outlined in the Wreck Diving program instructor manual.Complete at least two (2) additional open water training dives, including all skills listed in Open Water Training Dives 3 and 4 of the Wreck Diving Instructor Manual.
