HTMS Chang (LPD-792)It is the current largest large-scale multi-purpose amphibious assault ship of the Royal Thai Navy. It was constructed at a shipyard in the People's Republic of China and commissioned in 2023.It is 213 meters long with a maximum displacement of 23,000 tons. It serves to support amphibious operations, search and rescue missions, and disaster relief assistance.Service period: 1962 - 2012 (decommissioned)Important History: Originally the USS Lincoln County (LST-898) of the United States Navy, it saw combat in World War II and the Korean War before being purchased by the Royal Thai Navy. Currently, it has been converted into an artificial reef for marine resource conservation.HTMS ChangIt is the largest shipwreck diving site in Thailand, located within the Mu Ko Chang National Park in Trat Province (behind Koh Kham).It is an artificial reef that attracts schools of fish and various marine species, making it suitable for divers of all levels.Important Information for Diving Sites:Depth Levels: The deepest part of the hull is approximately 30 meters, the deck is about 20 meters deep, and the masthead rises to a height of approximately 5 meters above the water surface.Highlights: The shipwreck stretches up to 100 meters in length, allowing divers to explore various sections of the vessel, including the cabins, captain's bridge, gun turret, and smokestack.Living creatures: Abundant with large schools of fish, groupers, stingrays, and vibrant coral reefs.
