A course that is not only for dive leaders but also a highly interesting continuing education opportunity for the ambitious recreational diver. The Science of Diving course imparts this knowledge in the areas mentioned above in a clear and practical manner.Upon completing the Science of Diving course—which you can take at any time before, after, or even in conjunction with the Dive Guide course—you will simultaneously achieve the Divemaster (DM) level, thereby meeting the prerequisites to participate in the SSI Dive Control Specialist program.

Our internationally recognized SSI Lifeguard Program is the best way to become a professional lifeguard at outdoor and indoor pools or water parks, recreational, and wellness pools. Lifeguards are professional pool supervisors and have two main responsibilities: preventing accidents and saving lives. Being a lifeguard is a fun job and can be done part-time. The demand for responsible lifeguards is high, and some people even find their calling in this full-time career. We don’t just train you—we’re also happy to help you find a job after you complete your training. By the way: During your lifeguard training, you’ll also complete, among other things, the so-called “combined rescue drill” in accordance with DGfdB in conjunction with DGUV (a requirement for working as a lifeguard). After completing the course, we’ll be happy to help you find a position at nearby swimming facilities

We will train you in all safety-related basic skills and bring you up to date, dividing you into small groups according to your level of experience so that everyone can train according to their level of ability. An SSI Scuba Skills Update will bring you up to speed in no time at all. In the refresher course, you repeat and practise the diving skills from your Open Water Diver program under the guidance of an SSI professional. A Scuba Skills Update is not only a relaxed way of refreshing your diving skills, but often also a prerequisite for resuming diving training after a break or preparing yourself confidently for a check dive on vacation. This is the ideal course to prepare you for your first diving vacation or liveaboard. Also for experienced divers who have had a longer break from diving or who want to go on a liveaboard for the first time. Among other things, we discuss checking in at the diving center, customs, forms and give tips on the respective diving destination. During the pool unit, we not only practise the various entry and exit techniques, we also train the basic skills and prepare you for the obligatory check dive. Another focus is the setting of the current buoy and procedures for dives from a dinghy, as is common on safaris. Most of the most beautiful reefs are far out in the sea and are inaccessible to divers from the coast. There are also diving areas where it is not possible to dive from land and only boat dives are offered. There are diving centers, charter companies and private owners all over the world who can take you on their boat to these places with particularly clear water and spectacular underwater landscapes. We prepare you specifically for boat dives so that you feel comfortable on board and fun and enjoyment are guaranteed. ATTENTION: registration by telephone or in person is required.

Who hasn't been annoyed when the dive computer orders us to go "up" when the octopus is just leaving its cave or the huge school of barracudas is swimming around the drop-off? In the Maldives in particular, some interesting thilas (reefs) only start at 20 m and leave conventional compressed air divers little time to fully enjoy the dive. It is often necessary to surface at just under 100 bar because the no-decompression time is coming to an end. In the Red Sea, many top spots with sights of unparalleled beauty unfortunately only attract divers below the "eternal" no-decompression limits. Even "Mediterranean divers" know a thing or two about it, when the wreck lies so wonderfully in the light right now or the gorgonian fields stretch out almost endlessly in front of you, but the dream is abruptly interrupted by the beeping of the computer. To avoid all this, simply replace your compressed air cylinder with the appropriate nitrox mixture. The prerequisite for this is, of course, an internationally recognized nitrox specialty. With the EAN (Enriched Air Nitrox) Specialty Diver certification, you are authorized to dive internationally with up to 40% nitrox. In addition to the safety regulations and guidelines, the course also includes many practical parts, such as determining and measuring the nitrox content, filling out the nitrox book and marking the nitrox cylinder. In this combination course (Basic & Pool), we will introduce you to the most original way of diving for the first time and then take you a little further into this wonderful silent world. This course also forms the foundation for all other free diving programs and paves the way for you to safely enjoy your breathless passion. In the theoretical part, you will learn how to properly prepare for the apnoea dive with relaxation exercises and certain breathing techniques. We will tell you how your body reacts underwater and what you need to pay attention to, you will learn about certain pressure equalization techniques and about the equipment of a freediver. In the practical part, you will practice what you have just learned about relaxation and breathing. We train static apnea and promise you your first major progress here. We then train descending, pressure equalization and the correct fin stroke as well as swimming techniques without fins. Safe training with a buddy and rescue techniques are also part of the course repertoire. In the next part, we combine all of this with dynamic exercises (distance diving), refine your performance and improve your performance (personal best). As a deep diver, you have the unique opportunity to discover some of the world’s best dive sites and the most popular marine life. There is so much waiting for you in the deep blue sea. Through a balanced combination of classroom sessions and open-water dives, the SSI Deep Diving Specialty course will teach you everything you need to know for dives between 18 and 40 meters. You’ll learn how to plan and conduct your deep-diving adventures safely and how to get the most out of your deep dives using dive computers and gas consumption calculations. Upon completion of the course, you’ll receive your SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification and can explore the most beautiful deep dive sites wherever you want. This SSI Specialty is also a prerequisite for other advanced training courses, making it the next logical step in your diving education.

The ability to navigate is a prerequisite for many other specialty courses. Finding your way underwater with the help of natural landmarks and a compass gives you additional security and a higher level of diving confidence. Wherever you dive - in tropical seas or in local lakes, even if you are in a group and led by a guide: the ability to find your way underwater using natural landmarks and a compass will make you a more confident diver. With our SSI e-learning you will be optimally prepared for the course. In the theory workshop, you will learn lots of practical tips and tricks as well as how to read maps and use a compass on land. In the open water, our experienced instructors will guide you stress-free from exercise to exercise with the aim of being able to conduct a complete dive independently using a compass and natural navigation.

The special thing about our taster course is that during this course you will already complete a theory and two sections of pool training from the Open Water program. After that, you will know for sure whether you enjoy diving and how much fun you find it. Now you can decide whether you want to continue. If yes, then simply stay on the course and continue your training to become an Open Water Diver. The taster course you have already paid for (€65) will be fully credited towards the Open Water Diver course fee and you will only have to pay the difference.

Well in advance of the course start date, we’ll discuss with you in detail not only the standard prerequisites for participating in the ITC, but also the knowledge and skills you should already have before the ITC begins; this ensures you’re fully prepared and guarantees a successful course experience without surprises or unnecessary stress. We have tailored this course specifically for Assistant Instructors who held their AI status prior to July 1, 2026, and who are affected by the changes to the revised standards (RSTC). The course takes place over two consecutive weekends. It begins with the first session on Thursday evening, October 8, 2026. The IE (Instructor Evaluation) is then scheduled for October 24–25.
