Go Deeper. Take On the Challenge. Discover More.
Beyond 18 metres lies a completely different underwater world—deeper reefs, dramatic walls, incredible wrecks and dive sites that many recreational divers never experience.
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty is an exciting and challenging course designed to give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely explore depths of up to 40 metres. Across four boat dives, you’ll progressively develop your abilities under the guidance of an experienced Adreno instructor.
This isn’t simply about going deeper. It’s about becoming a more capable diver, making smarter decisions and learning to manage the additional challenges that come with depth.
What You’ll Learn
Plan and Execute Deep Dives
Learn how to plan recreational deep dives properly, select suitable equipment, establish safe depth and time limits, and use your dive computer effectively.
Gas Planning and Management
Depth increases your breathing-gas consumption. You’ll calculate your personal surface air consumption rate, plan minimum gas requirements and learn how to manage your supply throughout a deep dive.
Recognise and Manage Nitrogen Narcosis
Experience how increased depth can affect awareness, judgement and task performance. You’ll learn how to recognise the warning signs of nitrogen narcosis and respond appropriately.
Perfect Your Buoyancy at Depth
Changing pressure creates additional buoyancy challenges. You’ll practise controlled descents, precise buoyancy, safe ascent procedures and accurate safety stops.
Deep-Diving Safety Procedures
Develop practical skills for maintaining buddy contact, communicating at depth, managing unexpected situations and responding safely when a dive does not go according to plan.
Four Exciting Boat Dives
This course includes four open-water boat dives over two days, giving you more time underwater to build genuine experience rather than simply completing the minimum requirements.
Your dives will progressively introduce deeper environments and increasingly challenging dive planning, gas-management and skill requirements.
Conditions and suitable dive sites will determine the maximum depth of each dive. All dives remain within recreational, no-decompression limits.
