Hello! The SSI Open Water Diver course is your ticket to the underwater world. It’s the course that teaches you how to dive from scratch and gives you an international certification to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 18 meters with a buddy. You don’t need any prior experience—just a desire to explore! How is the course conducted? The path to becoming a diver is divided into three very simple steps:Theory at home: Download an app on your phone and work through the modules at your own pace. It features interactive videos and easy-to-understand quizzes to help you understand how the equipment works and the physics of water.Pool Sessions: You’ll go to a heated pool with your instructor. There, you’ll learn to breathe underwater for the first time, clear water from your mask if a little gets in, and move around while wearing your gear until you feel 100% comfortable. The Big Leap into Open Water: To finish up, you’ll complete 4 real dives in the ocean, a lake, or a quarry. It’s time to have fun, see fish, and put what you practiced in the pool into action. What do you need to get started?Knowing how to swim: You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete—you just need to be able to handle yourself in the water and not be afraid to float.Age: You can start at age 10 (Junior certification) or at age 15 and up.Standard health check: You’ll fill out a simple medical form before you start to make sure your ears and lungs are ready for the water pressure.

You choose the topics you like best, but there are two that are mandatory:Deep Dive (Required): You’ll descend to 30 meters to learn how your body reacts to pressure and how to manage your air at greater depths. Underwater Navigation (Required): You’ll learn how to use a compass and identify natural landmarks so you don’t get lost and always know how to find your way back to the boat. 3 Dives of Your Choice: You can choose from super fun options like Night Diving (with flashlights), Perfect Buoyancy (to move like an astronaut), Wreck Diving (sunken ships), or Fish Identification.???? What do you need to get started?Prerequisite: Hold an Open Water Diver certification Health: Keep your medical record up to dateExperience: None required! You can start the Advanced course immediately after completing your first course. ????️ Why is this worth doing? It opens the door to the world’s best dive sites. Without this certification, many dive centers won’t allow you to join those excursions. To help you plan your next adventure, tell me: Do you have anydestination or type of diveWhat drives you wild (like exploring shipwrecks or night diving) when choosing your specialties?
