Basic Spearfishing - Specialty

In
the Dominican Republic, as well as in large parts of the Caribbean,
lionfish, for example, are heavily hunted because they have no natural
predators. They are considered an invasive species that feeds exclusively
on juvenile fish, thereby causing serious damage to the ecosystem. However,
spearfishing is also permitted in other countries, which is why
proper handling of these underwater weapons is important. The responsible and safe use of underwater spears and/or harpoons is an essential part of this training program.
