You complete one open water training dive per specialty after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI instructor. With this pilot specialty training program, you have total freedom to explore. You can complete the full specialty programs at any time in the future and your Advanced Open Water Diver training will be recognized therein.

You’ll learn how to recognize stress, prevent accidents, and apply practical techniques for performing rescues and providing emergency care. Through a combination of pool and open-water training, you’ll be well and safely prepared to handle emergency and rescue situations. Upon completion of the course, you’ll receive the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue Specialty certification.

In this flexible diving program, you can choose the topics you want to learn about, including basic assessment, first aid, CPR, and initial stabilization techniques. You can also learn about emergency oxygen administration specific to diving and the basics of the automated external defibrillator (AED). Through a combination of academic sessions and hands-on training scenarios, this program will give you the tools and confidence you need to respond to emergencies. By the time you earn your certification, you’ll be able to act as a first responder, administer first aid and CPR, provide oxygen, and use an AED in medical emergencies.
