The SSI Dry Suit Diving course teaches you how to dive comfortably, safely, and confidently in colder water conditions. A dry suit opens the door to year‑round UK diving, longer dive times, and access to sites where dry suits are required or strongly recommended.
You’ll learn how to select and use a dry suit, control buoyancy using both your BCD and suit, manage ascents and descents, and handle emergency procedures specific to dry‑suit diving. This course is ideal for divers who want to stay warm, extend their season, and explore more UK dive sites with confidence.
How It Works
Digital Learning
Complete your SSI Dry Suit Diver online training before attending your in‑water sessions.
Pool Orientation
You’ll begin with a confined‑water session where you’ll practise:
- Dry suit donning and doffing
- Buoyancy control using the suit
- Trim and finning adjustments
- Emergency procedures (air trapping, inversion recovery)
Open Water Dives
You’ll complete two open‑water training dives, applying your new skills in real‑world conditions under instructor supervision.
Open Water Dives
Training takes place at one of our trusted UK dive sites:
- Eight Acre Lake
- Capernwray Diving Centre
- Stoney Cove
Final location is confirmed closer to the date based on diver needs, conditions, and course requirements.
Expect cold‑water conditions, hands‑on coaching, and plenty of time to build confidence in your dry suit.
A Community That Dives Together
At Overland Underwater, dry‑suit training is more than a course — it’s a gateway into our year‑round diving community. You’ll train alongside supportive divers who encourage each other, share knowledge, and celebrate every milestone.
Expect a warm, welcoming environment where you can learn at your own pace and enjoy the journey.
