Dry Suit Diving

SSI Dry Suit Diving: Dive Warm, Dive Year-Round Don’t let the cold stop your adventures! The SSI Dry Suit Diving course is the best way to extend your diving season and explore cooler waters in complete comfort. By learning to dive in a dry suit, you’ll stay warm even on multi-dive days and gain access to incredible dive sites that are often at their best during the winter months. How it Works eLearning at Home: Complete your interactive SSI digital training before the practical sessions. You’ll learn about different types of dry suits, thermal protection, and the theory of dry suit buoyancy control from the comfort of your own home. Pool Session at BCP Dolphin Leisure Centre: Before heading to open water, you’ll master the basics in the safety of a heated pool. You’ll practice donning and doffing the suit, managing air migration, and perfecting your buoyancy. Open Water Dives at Vobster Quay: Apply your new skills during two open water dives. Under the guidance of an SSI Professional, you’ll practice controlled ascents, descents, and emergency procedures in a real-world environment. Your Experience Timeline The course is designed to ensure you feel fully confident with the new equipment: 1-Hour Briefing: We’ll walk through the specific features of your dry suit, how to care for the seals and zips, and review the essential safety procedures unique to dry suit diving. 60–90 Minutes on Scuba (Pool): A focused session where you’ll learn how to control your trim, practice "inverted" recovery drills, and get comfortable with the added buoyancy of the suit. Open Water Day: A full day at Vobster Quay to complete your two qualifying dives and finalize your certification. What’s Included Access to SSI Dry Suit Diving eLearning materials. All scuba equipment and dry suit hire (you are welcome to use your own suit if you have one). Expert instruction for both pool and open water sessions. SSI Dry Suit Specialty Certification upon successful completion. Key Information Locations: BCP Dolphin Leisure Centre (Pool) and Vobster Quay (Open Water).
