Becoming an SSI Specialty Instructor is easy. Continue your dive instructor training by enrolling in a Specialty Instructor seminar for each of the dive specialties you would like to teach. You can also choose to co-teach the specialty you're interested in with a more experienced Specialty Instructor or complete an application for verification of your experience and submit it directly to SSI. Teach more specialties to automatically earn your Advanced Open Water Instructor certification.

With the SSI Deep Diving Specialty, you'll learn everything you need to dive from 18 to 40 meters through a combination of academic sessions and open water dives. You'll learn how to plan and complete deep dives safely and how to use computers and gas consumption calculations to get the most out of your deep dives. Upon completion, you'll earn your SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification.

As a Nitrox diver, you can increase your bottom times and safety margins, plus shorten your surface intervals - so you can spend more time diving and less time waiting! In this program, you will learn new skills and increase your diving knowledge whilst learning how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen. Upon completion, you will earn an SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification.

The SSI Science of Diving Specialty course provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body. The course is the foundation for most SSI Professional courses as well as some Extended Range courses and is an essential part of deepening your diving knowledge. You can complete your SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification online from the comfort of your own home. Upon completion of the course, you will be halfway to the coveted SSI Divemaster and receive your Science of Diving certification.

This specialty course provides you with the knowledge and advanced skills you need to navigate safely and confidently underwater. You will learn the correct use of the compass, natural navigation techniques, estimating distances, leaving and returning to a given point and simple navigation patterns. Through online learning and open water and confined water dives, the SSI Scuba Diver course provides you with the perfect foundation to become an independent and safe diver. You will learn everything you need for open water dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters together with an SSI Professional. With this course you will complete about half of the Open Water Diver course and can upgrade your certification later. All you have to do is complete the remaining theory and limited open water units as well as two open water training dives.
