SSI Open Water Diver

The SSI Open Water Diver is the most widely recognized initial certification course in recreational diving. It was developed for people who want to learn to dive safely and independently, exploring the underwater world anywhere in the world.

During training, the student will learn the fundamentals of diving, including equipment setup and use, buoyancy techniques, underwater communication, safety procedures, and basic dive planning.

The course is divided into three stages:

• Academic development (theory): study of the principles of diving, physics, physiology, equipment and safety.
• Pool or confined water training: practicing essential skills in a controlled environment.
• Open water diving: applying skills to real dives in the sea.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive the international SSI Open Water Diver certification, enabling them to dive autonomously with a qualified dive buddy to depths of up to 18 meters (12 meters for Junior Open Water Diver).
