FACTS AND TRAINING STANDARDS This specialty program gives you the knowledge and advanced skills you need to navigate safely and confidently underwater. You will learn the correct use of the compass, natural navigation techniques, estimating distances, leaving and returning to a given point and simple navigation patterns. You will also learn how to combine navigation techniques to optimize your diving experience. All of this will sharpen your underwater observation skills, increase your diving safety and help you get the most out of every dive. The Assistant Instructor is the next logical step after the Divemaster on your way to becoming an Instructor. It gives you the chance to gain valuable teaching experience, practice dive briefings, teach theory lessons and take over practical dive training. If you want to advance your career as an SSI Professional, you can complete the Instructor Training course, pass the Instructor Evaluation and qualify as an Open Water Instructor.

The SSI Basic Diver course teaches you the skills and knowledge to dive with an SSI Professional to a depth of 12 meters. It's a great way to discover even more of the underwater world on your way to becoming a diver. If you decide to take the next step in your diving adventure within 6 months and complete a Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver course, your Basic Diver course will be fully credited.
