Gingers Backside (★4.3)

On the north side of Ginger Island, this site is almost always ﬂat and calm, providing a restful location for surface intervals and second dives. A huge, healthy coral reef runs the length of the island starting at about 15 ft and falling away to the sandy bottom at about 60 ft.

Blue Chromis Reef (★4.2)

A shallow site perfect for beginner divers and snorkelers, ranging from 20-50 feet/ 3-15m. The rock formations closer to shore create beautiful overhangs for fish and lobsters to hide in, and the gentle sloping reef offers the opportunity to spot schooling tarpon, creole wrasse and an abundance of reef fish.

Ginger Steps (★4.5)

Named due to the step like formation of the site Ginger Steps is open to snorkelers and divers of all levels (ranging from 20 - 95 feet/3- 30m). Reef fish can be found schooling at every level, look for sharks at the drop off and lobsters hiding in the giant mushroom shaped coral structures.

Chimney (★4.3)

One of the most famous dives in the Dog Islands, the Chimney is a site with an unusual underwater structure. Long told to be a favorite site when Jacques Cousteau was diving here, you can easily see why this site is so popular! Bring a light to best appreciate the incredible colors!

Diamond Reef (★4.1)

A quick 2-minute boat ride from Scrub Island, this site is named as a result of a diver losing a diamond ring here about 10 years ago (never found). The reef itself is a small “wall” some 200 yards long. This site is ideal for all levels of divers and snorkelers, accessible in nearly all weather.

Wall to Wall (★4.7)

The name of this dive site comes from the fact that the site is often covered ‘wall-to-wall’ in ﬁsh. This site is sometimes washed by strong currents and close attention should be paid to the dive leader. You can’t miss Yellowfish Rock at the bottom!

RMS Rhone (Wreck) (★4.6)

If you only have time for one dive trip in the BVI, it's the RMS Rhone. Numerous artifacts that were deposited on October 29, 1867 are still visible today. You can also see where the 1977 classic movie "The Deep" was filmed and swim through the bow section.

Cistern Point (★4.2)

Cistern Point gets its name from the large cistern-like holes in the reef. This site makes for a great second dive on morning dive trips. This site offers lots of light and some interesting perspectives for underwater photographers.

Wreck Alley (★4.4)

This is a quadruple wreck site consisting of the Marie L, the Pat, the Beata, and the Island Seal. The wrecks were sunk by the BVI Dive Operators Association, starting in the 1990s.

Coral Gardens, Great Dog, BVI (★4.4)

This site was recently updated with three airplane wrecks designed to look like sharks as well as “The Cathedral“ - an installation made from retired mooring lines creating a sponge adorned floating archway. This is a local favorite! Located on the south side of Great Dog Island, just off of Virgin Gorda.

P.O.S. (Cockroach Island) (★4.4)

This site was used by Jacques Cousteau for research while he was based in the BVI, and still boasts an impressive array of marine life. The steep coral and sponge covered pinnacle rises from 24m/80 feet to 5m/15 feet and has some interesting ledges and overhangs to investigate. Can be prone to current!

Carval Rock (★4.5)

A large rock facing the open ocean between Ginger and Cooper islands, this site is open to current ﬂows. A favorite site for schooling sennet, the exposed rock face and surrounding boulders are often visited by larger pelagics – look out for reef sharks, barracuda and mackerel.

Aqualung

Dry Rocks East (★4.3)

This mini pinnacle hosts a huge variety of schooling fish and offers an opportunity to see pelagics such as sharks and eagle rays passing through. The main site ranges from 20 - 70 feet and the rock walls and boulders create beautiful views for divers of all levels to enjoy. A local favorite!!

Kodiak Queen (Wreck) (★4.4)

The Kodiak Queen, formerly US Navy fuel barge YO-44, was one of only five ships to survive Pearl Harbor! Sunk in the BVI in March 2017 she has a second lease of life; creating an artificial reef for divers, and ever increasing numbers of fish, to enjoy.

Angelfish Reef is a great site to explore on the southwest tip of Norman Island, BVI. The varied topography makes for some great photo opportunities.
