At the corner to the channel there is a large indentation in the form of a Roman amphitheatre at approx. 20m. This form is the epitome of the dive site and, at the same time, a meeting place for many marine creatures. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Kashaavaru Kandu (Golden Wall) (★4.2) This dive site is a channel located in the southern region of Vaavu atoll. The dive is a mixture of an outer channel where you can spot large pelagics and the inner reef wall where you can see lots of colorful coral life. Sub Oceanic at Hilton Maldives Amingiri, 20188 North Male Atoll Banana Reef - Fee Gaa Giri (★4.2) The legendary Banana Reef! The reef is big and banana-shaped with caves and overhangs. The reef top is between 3 to 8 meters from where it drops to 30+ meters. Mares Hafsa Thila (★4.4) Hafza Thila AKA Angotti is a small Thila located in the North Ari Atoll and famous for it’s stationary grey reef sharks, which can be seen on almost every dive. DivePoint Hudhuran Fushi, 20193 Male Nassimo Thila (★4.2) Probably one of the best Thilas in the whole North Male area. There are several pinnacles on the north of the Thila, where the main fish are, along with beautiful coral formations and sea fans. Wonderful dive for experienced divers due to the strong current. Mares Madivaru Corner (★4.7) This dive site starts as a wall dive and leads into the channel, here you can enter the channel to enjoy a deeper dive or stay on the drop off point of the channel where you can enjoy all the fish life in the current. Peter S. (#417559) Mahibadhoo Rock (Manta Point) (★4.3) Manta Rays cleaning station. Great amount of mantas spotted here during outgoing currents between May and December. Maximum depth is 18 meters. Possible strong currents, when this happens, visibility tends to be poor, around 10 meters. Mares, Janez Kranjc Rasdhoo Channel (★4.5) Suitable only for advanced divers, the channel between Kuramathi Resort Island and Rasdhoo offers world-class encounters between 22 and 30 meters deep. This dive works best with a medium current pushing mainly across and slightly in toward the atoll. Divers should follow the edge of the channel. PABLO S. (#2899666) Kudimaa (Wreck) (★4.3) This medium-sized steel wreck was sunk on purpose in 1998, this was to provide the many divers visiting South Ari Atoll with a wreck dive site. This site is very close to the house reef of Machafushi island. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Kuramathi Caves (★4.5) These caverns are located on the western side of the atoll past the Kuramathi Resort sandbank. There are many large overhangs here, but also two caverns through which divers can swim (one at 18-20 meters, the other at 28-30 meters). DivePoint Hudhuran Fushi, 20193 Male Lankan Faru (★4.4) Nice drift dive for all levels of divers. After Manta season we dive here to watch other amazing life. The reef slopes from 5 to 30m down, deeper on the bottom, sharks and stingrays are found in the sandy areas. In the big rocks, we see groupers and glass fish. Mares, Janez Kranjc Gangehi Kandu North (★4.4) North side of a narrow channel close to Gangehi island resort. Blows 2 types of current (Incoming or Outgoing). Mild to strong current. Top with 5 meters and bottom about 33 meters. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Bodu Gaa (★4.5) Boduga means big block in Dhivehi. This site derives its name from the large coral block that sits just 2 meters under the surface at the end of the island of Kuramathi near the sandbank. DivePoint Hudhuran Fushi, 20193 Male Fish Tank (★4.4) This dive site has many names, Fish Tank, Fish Factory, Stingray City and they all fit! There is actually a fish factory on the island and this is the reason why there are so many rays and moray eels. Peter S. (#417559) Rangali Madivaru (★4.4) Rangali Madivaru (Madi = Manta, Faru = long Reef) is a manta cleaning station located in the channel at approx. 9 meters on the edge where the sloping bottom meets a plateau reef. This dive site is best visited during the manta season when the current is outgoing, otherwise when the current is incoming. SUN SIYAM DIVING OLHUVELI, 2005 South Male Atoll Guraidhoo Outside (★4.3) This is a long, gently dropping reef. An easy dive site for every level of diver. Best depth is in the 5 to 20-meter zone. During the month of August, there is a strong possibility to see whale sharks with the small incoming south to east current. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Rasdhoo Miyaru Faru (★4.6) The divesite is located at the northernmost point of the Rasdhoo atoll. There is a reef wall between 10-25 m and a reef slope descending into the deep water. DivePoint Hudhuran Fushi, 20193 Male One Palm Finolhu (★4.5) This is a gently sloping reef, ideal for beginners and advanced divers. There are many large coral blocks on the reef. This site is great for night diving as well. Sea Retreats Dive & Watersports, 20092 Thulusdhoo 5 Palms, Thulusdhoo (★4.6) 5 Palms is a fun drift dive that has something to offer for every level of diver. The top of the reef starts at 5m and drops down at 8m. At 22/25m there is a sandy plateau on the edge of which big fish appear from time to time. Mares Dreamland Housereef (★4.3) Dreamland Housereef, located at Hirundhoo Island in Baa Atoll, Maldives, features a wide sloping reef beginning at approximately 3 m and extending to 30–35 m. Divers can enter from shore or jetty. Generally mild to moderate currents and 20–25 m visibility make this site ideal for all experience levels. Rasdhoo Dive and Watersports, 09020 Rasdhoo Madivaru Channel (★4.6) Rasdhoo Madivaru is a channel located at the intersection of the local islands of Rasdhoo and Madivaru. Dive along the edge of parallel or perpendicular reef formations across the channel and explore the sandy areas. Mares, Janez Kranjc Seven Stingrays (★4.2) Seven Stingrays is a gently sloping reef with sandy pockets where rays often rest. Currents are usually mild, making it accessible for all levels. Coral blocks, small overhangs, and a mix of hard corals create an easy, scenic route ideal for relaxed exploration and long bottom times. Mares, Janez Kranjc Potato Reef, Thulusdhoo (★4.5) Potato reef is a large pinnacle with lively corals on the top reef. Top reef starts from 6m. Reef at some area are more steep slope and some area gentle slope. Site is suitable for course dives, night dives, and fun dives. Sea Retreats Dive & Watersports, 20092 Thulusdhoo Gasfinolhu House Reef (★4.6) Located on the western side of the island. Beautiful long reef with arches and overhangs on the shallow part of the reef 14m above. Some area are a bit more gentle slope and some areas are a steep slope. PDH Maldives Prv Ltd, 09010 Thoddoo Thoddoo Rangabeelu (★4.9) One of Thoddoo best spots to dive with mantas. Located just in front of Sunrise bikini beach or 5 min boat ride from the harbor. Along the wall, there are some large formations of bell-shaped corals (the name of the dive site means Great Bells in Dhivehi). Mares, Janez Kranjc Madivaru Finolhu (★4.6) It is ten minutes from Kuramathi and right next to the famous Madivaru Corner. The wall dive starts shallow within 5m and drops to the outside of the Atoll. It is perfect for drift diving, shallow dives, and deep dives. Peter S. (#417559) Angaga Thila (★4.4) Underwater seamount- called Thila in Maldives, top reef at 7-10 meters. Negative decent needed away from the reef if there is current. High concentration of fish on the current side. Lots of schooling fishes, Tunas and big stuff such as sharks and rays. Beautiful cracks and holes with all kind of surprises. Mares Kuda Faru (★4.5) Finger Point also known as Kuda faru, the divesite is located in the channel of Makunudhoo, a few kilometers northwest of the island that shares the same name. The northern reef of the channel presents an interesting outgrowth, which looks like a pinnacle (Thila), has a top reef at 12m and is connected to the main reef. Mares, Janez Kranjc Maagiri Thila (★4.3) Pinnacle with a top at 2-3 meters depth. Maximum depth is around 23 meters. Sandy bottom and walls covered by hard coral. You can find curremts from mild to medium. DivePoint Rannalhi, South Male Atoll Rannalhi Kuda Giri (★4.6) Small Giri with beautiful coral blocks on the west side. This giri is covered with fields of anemones and different types of anemone fish. Easy dive. DivePoint Rannalhi, South Male Atoll Appa Thila (★4.4) Appa Thila is a large reef on the inside of the atoll. Its west side is a beautiful terrace with lots of hard and soft coral blocks. Down at 30 meters there is some smaller overhangs, but the most beautiful part is the shallower waters above 15 meters. Appa Thila is great for beginners and snorkellers. DivePoint Rannalhi, South Male Atoll Kalhu Thila (★4.5) Kalhu Thila is situated right in the center of the atoll and is a small pinnacle with lots of soft corals and overhangs. This is the perfect site to do your night dive. The pinnacle starts from 3 meters and drops down to 28 meters. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Thoddoo South Corner (★4.9) A great site of Thoddoo, located on the south-eastern part of the island. Suitable for both professionals and beginners, accessible practically all year round so that you won’t miss a thing :). SUN SIYAM DIVING OLHUVELI, 2005 South Male Atoll Lhosfushi Kuda Kandu (★4.3) Kuda Kandu means small channel and is located north of Guraidhoo channel, it has a very shallow sandy bottom at 12 meters deep and 10 meters wide. It offers colonies of stony and soft corals which give good hide away spots to blue stripe yellow snappers. SUN SIYAM DIVING OLHUVELI, 2005 South Male Atoll Napoleon Reef (★4.2) This dive site is named Napoleon Reef for good reason. This site is covered in large Napoleon wrasses. This is a good drift dive for all levels of diver. Many times divers have also encountered whale sharks and mobula rays here as well. Sub Oceanic at Hilton Maldives Amingiri, 20188 North Male Atoll Furana North (★4.1) The dive site is a classical channel dive site that also features a thila, which is an underwater mount from 12 to 30 meters. Usually jumped on the outside reef with a left shoulder drift into the channel. After approximately 20 meters it is possible to reach the thila. SUN SIYAM DIVING OLHUVELI, 2005 South Male Atoll Kandoo Kan (★4.4) With a slow incoming current Kandoo Kan is a great site of beginner divers to observe plenty of big fish life close to the reef. This is one of the best dive sites to encounter huge green sea turtles. Peter S. (#417559) Dhigurah Beyru (★4.2) Outer reef diving site on the local island of Dhighura - reef slowly sloping down from 0 to approx. 10 m, then more or less steep wall up to over 40 m with smaller overhangs. Depending on the current, right or left shoulder along the reef. Mares, Janez Kranjc Dhigali Haa (★4.7) Dhigali Haa is a protected thila in Baa Atoll with a shallow top at around 8 m and a maximum depth of approximately 35 m. The site features steep sides, overhangs and strong reef structure, often surrounded by large schools of fish. Mares, Janez Kranjc Hirundhoo (★4.4) Hirundhoo is a reef site starting at 5 meters and dropping down to 35 meters. The dive features a wall section with overhangs and varied reef structure, allowing flexible depth profiles suitable for different experience levels. DivePoint Rannalhi, South Male Atoll Vaagali Thila (★4.4) Small thila in the Vaageli channel. You can dive around it within one hour. The thila has many blocks and nice terraces. The top of the thila is at 10 meters. SSI Service Center Maldives, 200015 Male Kuda Giri Wreck (★4.4) This wreck site requires a short swim from the nearby reef “Giri“ to reach it. This well-preserved wreck sunk in 1994 and is teaming with marine life. Maldives Passions, 08090 Maafushi Gulhi Outside (★4.4) In the local language (Dhivehi), Miyaru means “shark“ and Faru means “reef“. Shark’s reef it is then, so it’s not too hard to guess what you can expect here!! White tip sharks galore, grey reef sharks aplenty, a few nurse sharks, less common leopard sharks too and even rare tiger sharks & whale sharks sightings! Mares, Janez Kranjc Turtle Reef (★4.3) Turtle Reef is a beautiful part of the outside reef on the east side of the atoll, famous for it turtle encounters. The reeftop stretches down to approximately 7 meters on the edge - after that the deep blue awaits you... Sub Oceanic at Hilton Maldives Amingiri, 20188 North Male Atoll Boduhiti Thila (★4.4) Bodu Hithi Thila is a two slightly separated seamounts in the famous Bodu Hithi Channel. Seasonally it is one of the top Manta Spots in North Male Atoll. Mares, Janez Kranjc Madivaru Beyru (★4.6) Starting the dive at 6 m on the top reef, you’ll find a lot of interesting coral formations. It is a large sandy bay, starting at 16 m and dropping down towards the reef where resting sharks and stingrays like to stay. Fasdheythere Dive Club, 06030 Kendhoo Blue Hole (★4.4) The Maldives has several unique “blue holes“ or chimney-like formations popular for diving and snorkeling, with one notable example being the Amilla Blue Hole on the house reef of Amilla Fushi in Baa Atoll. DivePoint Hudhuran Fushi, 20193 Male Old Virgin (★4.6) This wall is for all kind of divers, easy and protected but nice. The reef falls from 5 to 25m and we have to look in the small overhangs.In the right month (May to Aug) often mantas passing in the blue. A spot also good for a night dive and a good chance to get surprised. The terrain offers a varied, almost maze-like dive with gentle currents and good visibility.
