Because it resembles an intricate maze, this dive is a real challenge for the more adventurous. A large number of holes with and without exit, raising the adrenaline to all who visit them.

Paredes do Cabo (★4.2)

The “Cable Walls“ are located next to the Cabo Espichel cliff. The depth is about 12-15m and what makes it special are the traces of the River Gurara wreck which can be found. The stern part is about 100m to the south.

Aqualung

Pedrinha (★4.3)

Around 15 minutes outside the marina of Vila do Porto in Santa Maria lays this marine reserve with very abundant flora and fauna. Moderate currents can occur. The entry of the site has a mooring buoy that goes 8m down to the main rock. Average diving depth between 15 and 25 meters.

Canhoneira Faro (★4.3)

Hundred year old wreck, mainly the boiler of the shiop can be seen, as well as some spreaded metal parts. Surrounded by sand, this small wreck works like a shelter for small creatures and many small kind of fish. Intersting for novice divers or even keen wreck divers who like to dive in a piece of history!

Boca do Inferno (★4.6)

Diving site that owes its name to the huge rocky recess found in the area. This dive takes place along the coast with depths between 9 meters (with some gorges) and 16 meters where the reef meets the sand.

Pedra do Gomes (★4.2)

Natural reef, composed of large rocks with cracks, and with a secondary reef to the northeast. This site has a maximum depth of 10 meters in the sand and is accessible to all diver levels. The site is not more than 15 minutes from Albufeira Marina.

Scubapro, Stephen Frink

Banco Dollabarat (★4.4)

A huge seamount located on the protected offshore area of São Miguel and Santa Maria Islands. With water coming from deeps more than 200 m to the surface (Dollabarat for instance is a dive point that can start just of around 5 meters from the surface). All this create an upwelling flow of the nutrients.

Carreiro dos Cações (★3.7)

Former spawning ground for benthic sharks. Unfortunately, today they are gone due to human action, but the name was kept and it still can offer a rich diving experience. With a sandy bottom, there is a more sheltered inner segment where it is possible to enjoy the diverse marine life inhabiting the walls of the strait.

Pedra das Âncoras (★4.1)

Area of rock formations not very high but of very interesting relief, and where we can see some anchors lost there, average depth 15m and maximum 18m.

Pedra da Lagoa (★3.9)

This spot consists of two rocks that are about 20m to 30m apart. A great dive for the marine life that it has. However, due to sea conditions (usually there is some current) it is considered a dive for experienced divers only.

Barragem de Varzea de Calde (★4.0)

About 25 minutes from Viseu, we find the dam with a maximum depth of 20 meters and an interesting underwater route with a maximum depth of 9 meters. On-site we can find a bus, a horizontal tunnel passage, a small sailboat, a construction silo, 2 light cars, and 1 jet plane

Muro Wall (★4.5)

This reef is part of the largest natural reef in Portugal, the reef that stretches across the Bay of Armação de Pêra to Albufeira. Along the Muro Wall you can find red algae, which cover the reef, giving it a vibrant color.

Sardinha (★4.0)

A beautiful natural reef, Sardinha dive site can be navigated in a circle on a small stone slab. This is an easily accessed reef perfect for all levels of divers. There is also a small wall with recesses at its base.

Castelo (★4.3)

The Castle (Castelo) is a natural reef with a maximum depth of 8 meters, with three large rocks distant from the main formation. This is a popular dive site for try scuba dives and for snorkeling due to its shallow depth. Being a rock that extends out of the water, the dive is made around the reef.

Pedra do Cravo (★4.5)

Like snowflakes, here you will find sand and some peripheral slumps on the rock/dead coral. Small flakes of dead coral and broken coral, with lilac tones, cover the ground in large quantities.
