Explore Siargao Island

The stunning island of Siargao, Philippines, is a favourite among surfers who make the journey to the island to experience the famous Cloud 9 break. While scuba diving in Siargao Island is still in its infancy, there are a number of beautiful reefs and rocky sites, where divers will often have the ocean to themselves. Siargao offers travellers the perfect combination of idyllic white-sand beaches, surfing, and scuba diving.

Siargao diving operators can be counted with the fingers on one hand, with most dive resorts and dive centres situated in the town of General Luna on Siargao Island’s southern side. Exposed to the roaring Pacific ocean, take a ferry to the island or jump into the water by visiting liveaboards.

Diving in Siargao Island

The majority of dive sites are found around small islands just off the coast from General Luna, yet, dive centres can also take you on day trips to the islands of Anahawan, Mamon and La Jonasa. At Seeco Reef discover pristine coral reef while Pilar Twin Rocks and Shark Point, allow divers to hunt among rocky precipes. Siargao’s highlight, the Cathedral dive site, will find experienced divers delving into a dramatic series of caverns and tunnels.

The best Months to dive in Siargao Island

Siargao diving is possible year-round yet, the dry season between March and October is the optimal time for diving. As there is less rain, the visibility is at its best and although you can expect swell on the dive sites at any time of the year due to the location, often in the dry season the sea is calmer. If you are focused on surfing, but would also like to dive, the peak season for surf is from late August to late November.
